I'm Jesyka Ricker, an IBCLC with a Master's in Human Lactation. Nice to meet you! I am the owner, operator and only person at Ancient Roots Lactation, L3C in Michigan. I moved from Florida recently with my 5yo son and my wonderful husband. I trained at Tampa General Hospital on the Labor and Delivery floor and the NICU. I helped families through in-home visits all over the Tampa Bay area for over 2 years under Ancient Roots Lactation, LLC. I have a passion for educating families about the science of lactation while helping them find solutions that fit with their lives free from judgement. I offer home visits for families, they are not restricted to a time limit; I want to leave knowing that you have all of the education, resources and confidence to move forward. I will always continue to check in with you via text or phone calls if you need them. I offer support on everything from Prenatal Lactation Education (my favorite!) to back to work, to weaning and everything in between. Please reach out if you have any questions at all. I offer self-pay for families with insurances I can't charge and I will provide you with a super-bill for reimbursement. I also offer sliding scale for families in need <3
Jesyka was so great to work with!! She helped me in the early days of breastfeeding and made a big difference in my comfortability and success. In addition she stayed in close contact with next steps (solid introduction, teething etc). Would recommend her to anyone!

Jesyka should be your Lactation Consultant. I didn’t think it was possible to exclusively breastfeed until after we got to this point and I tell you with 100% certainty that it’s because we got help from Jesyka. I had two (for lack of better terms) *failed* attempts at breast feeding my first two very small babies who were perfectly healthy. We knew going in that it would be difficult to get to exclusively breastfeeding my third *very small* baby and after 10 tough weeks we are here. It is possible. Jesyka made plans with me based on my quirks (demands) haha, preferences, and especially my baby’s needs. She treated us with respect and kindness and even brought her child to play with my older children a few times. I recommend Jesyka with my whole heart. She’s a wonderful person and mother. She changed my life and made breastfeeding enjoyable and accessible for our family. She’s the best. Choose her and you’ll love her.

Jesyka's depth of knowledge is only matched by her empathy and compassion. As a working + traveling mom juggling breastfeeding and bottle feeding/pumping, I felt overwhelmed at times trying do it all. Pumping schedules, milk storage, traveling with milk, providing enough milk in my absence, establishing good nursing foundations so my child could nurse whenever I was around, it's a lot! Being able to work with Jeskya made everything less intimidating and both my baby and I are happy. I would recommend Jesyka to any one and every one in a heartbeat. She even helps beyond nursing with guidance on introducing solids. Our family is so grateful to have her in our circle of care for our child.

Jesyka is unmatched in her knowledge and compassion! My baby was born with a severe tongue tie and lip tie and we were concerned with the amount of breastmilk she was actually consuming. Jesyka worked with us to establish a pumping and syringe feeding plan until we could have her ties corrected and my daughter has now been steadily gaining weight, and my breastfeeding journey is still protected which was very important to me. I can’t stress enough how much Jesyka saved not only my breastfeeding journey but also my sanity. I went from obsessively worrying about every second my daughter spent trying to eat to confidently knowing I was giving her everything she needed. If you want to feel supported and helped by someone who will genuinely care about you and your family, I can’t recommend Jesyka enough. She is a miracle worker!

Jesyka has a solid doctoral training and applied knowledge of research trials related to obstetric health and lactation. She is personable, good listener, and has an earnest confidence. She has been so helpful for our breastfeeding journey this past week in building a plan that is right for both mom and baby. For example, my wife was getting really frustrated and in pain. now based on her guidance I feel like we are on the right track. 😊

Jesyka was absolutely the reason I was able to continue breastfeeding my son for as long as I have (8 months and still going strong!)!! She truly has so much compassion and empathy for us mama’s and babies! She is very responsive to texts and even does home visits— which I’m so grateful for. She doesn’t judge or push you in any direction. She intently listens and goes in whichever direction that works best for you/baby. I can’t thank her enough. She was the person I turned to when I was at my wits end and she was still able to cheer me up and help me continue on this breastfeeding/first time mom journey. Jeskyka was a true God send! I cannot recommend her enough. If it weren’t for her I would’ve given up the breastfeeding journey much sooner.
