I will be giving birth at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. I only have, at most, $1,000 for a doula. I will need assistance specifically for labor and the first few weeks after having the baby. Requests/Requirements No Induction → No use of Pitocin or Cytotec • Fetal/monitoring → Intermittent, external, only if baby is in distress • Delivery Positions → Side, hands and knees, lean on partner, birthing stool, squat, whatever feels comfortable to me but not laying on my back • Episiotomy → Only after perineal massage, warm compress and positioning, as a last resort, use of local anesthesia when performed and repaired • Delivery → Push spontaneously, without time limits as long as mom and baby are ok, no forceps, no vacuum extraction, husband to catch the baby • Clothing → Wear my own gown before/after delivery - switch in to own PI's when ready Immediately after delivery • Golden Hour → Immediate placement of baby on moms chest. No measurements or anything for first hour. • Delayed Cord clamping → Umbilical cord to be cut after it stops pulsing and goes white (delayed cord clamping) • Cutting umbilical cord → My husband to cut the umbilical cord Labor augmentation ONLY if baby is in distress. First attempted with natural methods such as nipple stimulation. Never to include artificial rupture of the membranes Do Not • Offer Pitocin No urinary catheter No IV unless dehydrated → No heprine or saline lock Post Delivery Extra strength acetaminophen - no narcotics Stool softener Pitocin ok for mom after umbilical cord has been cut to stop hemorrhaging if need be Baby NO VACCINES: HEP B, NO EYE OINTMENT Medical exam/s done in presence of patient or spouse - after golden hour Baby to stay in room at all times - if taken out of room husband to accompany at all times No formula feeding.

My family and I are expecting our 2nd boy due November 18th. We had our 4 year old at the Asheville birth center when we lived in Buncombe County. We now live in Morganton and are planning on having Baby AJ at natural beginnings birth center in Statesville. Our home flooded during Hurricane Helene luckily only impacting the lowest level of our garage, walk in basement, and spared our kitchen and bedrooms. Myself and 4 year old lived with my parents for about 3 1/2 weeks after while my husband gutted the space, our HVAC system and hot water heater were replaced, and the mold mitigation was completed. Needless to say we are not as prepared as we had anticipated at 37 weeks pregnant. We lost our car seat and stroller to the flood along with other baby gear we had stored in the garage. We still have items scattered in our yard that we would like to attempt to sanitize and salvage. Our space and storage became smaller as we have not had the new construction for our garage or basement which was our playroom/office/guest room started. I had significant postpartum depression/anxiety with my first. This event has been difficult and I'm anxious already about my mental health. I think trying to line up as many supports as I can for my postpartum period will be essential to making the transition smoother. I'm looking to form some connections in this area as my education to resources in Morganton is limited compared to the community we had when living in Swannanoa. We had a birth doula for our first and used a postpartum doula when I returned back to work. Both we used through Homegrown Babies in Asheville. Look forward to chatting with whoever may be recommended as a match to set up some supports for when our new guy arrives.

I plan on giving birth at Mission Hospital in Asheville. I’m hoping to have someone to help advocate for my needs and coach my birthing process. I had an accident and fell last Thursday and was in the hospital being monitored during hurricane Helene. I was there alone for 3 days with no power and water and so afraid. My husband couldn’t get to me due to road closures and it was really lonely and scary. I am hoping to find someone who can be there with me and my husband and who can help me with the process. I’m planning on getting an epidural but hope to deliver her vaginally. I’m 37 years old and considered a high risk pregnancy. So far everything has been good health wise. This is my first pregnancy and I don’t know where to start. I just got an ultrasound today that says I’m 11 weeks so my due date is early November I think. I just want help navigating. What should I expect and how should I handle everything? I have to choose a hospital that accepts my insurance. I don’t know how much other anything costs so I’m in the dark on budget.
