How these prices are calculated

Prices are the rates night nannies and newborn care specialists list on their Bornbir profiles. Birth doula packages are left out, because they pay for labor support rather than nights. So are hourly rates under $15 or over $200, to leave out package prices entered as an hourly rate by mistake.

The Kansas City figures count providers based within 150 miles once at least 5 of them list prices; below that the page shows Kansas or United States figures instead. Medians are the middle price, ranges the middle half of prices, and per-night costs assume a 10-hour shift. Figures recompute daily.

The cost of a night nanny in Kansas City, KS can be influenced by several factors:

  • Experience and Qualifications

Nannies with extensive experience, certifications (e.g., newborn care specialist), or specific training often charge higher rates.

  • Number of Babies

Caring for twins or multiples typically costs more than caring for a single baby due to the increased workload.

  • Hours and Duration

Rates may vary depending on the number of hours per night, the total number of nights required, and whether the arrangement is short-term or long-term.

  • Duties and Responsibilities

Additional responsibilities, such as bottle preparation, light housekeeping, or sleep training, can increase the cost.

  • Time of Year

Demand during peak times, like the holiday season, may drive prices higher.

  • Agency Fees

Hiring through an agency often includes placement fees or additional charges for their services, adding to the overall cost.

  • Overnight Rates vs. Hourly Rates

Some nannies charge a flat overnight rate, while others charge hourly, which can influence costs depending on the length of the shift.

When considering hiring a night nanny in Kansas City, KS, it's advisable to research and interview several night nannies to find one who aligns with your preferences, needs, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs. “Hi, I'm Melissa Brown! I am 38 years old and I was initiated into motherhood 16 years ago when I gave birth to my son, Zane. We have two female cats; Poppi radiant in gold fur and sleek baby Ami in black! I am a trained Doula, certified professional Cosmetologist and Registered Yoga Instructor (RYT 200). I primarily value well & wise authenticity, integrity, vulnerability, boundaries and connection between human beings and I love to foster these experiences. “What is a Doula? My main roles as a multidisciplinary doula is to offer emotional support and empowerment during the event of your child’s birth. Why should I choose you? As somebody who is both a mother as well as a woman who died for 12 hours and miraculously revivified without intervention, I am first and foremost experientially well qualified to understand this work in body, mind and spirit. I have received official certification for this work through Birth & Beyond KC. I can say with conviction that I am nourished by being chosen to offer my compassionate, non-judgmental presence during life’s most tender thresholds. My intention is to hold space for you with reverence, presence, and deep respect, so that you do not have to navigate these moments alone.

I feel so lucky to have had Melissa during labor. It was our first birth, and was a long + difficult labor as our son was not in an optimal position. Had it not been for the amazing support I had, I truly believe my labor would have felt very traumatic. Instead, I vividly remember how comforting and dedicated Melissa was through the night and into the morning. Her support made such a difference when I look back on the labor. I would highly recommend her to all parents!

I hired amy in 2025 for my first pregnancy PRICING: Amy had great pricing that was a little bit lower than most doulas you would find in KC proper. She was incredibly helpful in submitting paperwork so my work would reimburse me(trust me it was a lot of hoops to jump through and she did them with a smile) CLASSES: I’ll start by saying I was definitely someone who listened to a birth story or hypno birth video nearly every day on my drive into work. I think her classes offered great advice but much of the material if you were like me and constantly listen and read things could be learned online. I will say while I did feel like most of it was refreshers and was good to talk through different coping strategies, birth preferences, positions (this I felt was something I didn’t know much about and she had many print outs for), and ways to advocate for yourself. The longer version of will be at the end but I had to have a very quick delivery due to complications and my husband was able to really speak up and buy me some time using the strategies that Amy had made sure to really emphasize. I do think Amy had a lot to do with him telling the Drs. I need a few private minutes and asking for a different nurse to help me make my decision. ON CALL SUPPORT: Amy was so sweet and there was one time I had a rough appointment and was feeling beat down. She invited me to her house to chat and walk through my emotions. She was always there for a phone call or to help me find resources when I had questions L&D: I had an induction. We had built a plan with Amy for when I was further along and in need of support then she would come to the hospital. Unfortunately I had to have an urgent c section about 1 hour into my day. With that said I don’t have a lot of input on L&D with her as she was not the one we were frantically calling/ texting as I was going to the OR. She did show up after and offered to bring us food or any kind of comfort measures. She also offered to swing by to allow my husband some time out of the hospital (my folks were there so we didn’t take her up on this). I know Amy would’ve been there had we texted her because she was checking in frequently throughout the night when I was getting my cervix softened and rough when they started the pitocin POST PART: Amy was great about checking in and making sure I was supported. I was not super mobile and also had sooooo many people stopping by, she allowed me time that I much needed before my post partum visit. From the outside looking in - I could see this visit as even more helpful if you did not have a lot of people around the area. Overall Amy was great, you can tell she loves what she does and care deeply about her clients. I really leaned on some of the earlier teaching and strategies she gave me when I was told that my day was going to end differently than I expected.
