Greetings, Bornbir family, I’m Alexis, a full-spectrum community doula and the founder of Mama Umi Doula Services & Reproductive Health Education. Welcome to my little corner of Bornbir! My passion for birthwork runs deep. I’ve had the privilege of working as a patient care technician in postpartum and labor & delivery hospital units, supporting families from all walks of life. While I valued learning from healthcare providers, I also witnessed firsthand how these systems—rooted in oppression and racism—too often fail black, brown, and indigenous BIPOC) birthing people. Beyond the hospital setting, I’ve served as a midwife’s assistant in a small home birth practice in Elizabeth City, NC, supporting families who desired a different birthing experience. I have also volunteered as a doula through a community doula network, offering care to birthing people in need, including teenagers, individuals struggling with substance abuse, and single parents facing financial barriers. I believe that all birthing people deserve options, autonomy, and care that honors their lived experiences—whether in a hospital, at home, or anywhere in between. My work is deeply rooted in love, revolutionary joy, transformation, creativity, and ancestral healing. I’m Nichole — a mother, student midwife, and herbalist walking in the footsteps of generations before me. My work is rooted in faith, guided by traditional knowledge, and grounded in the belief that your body was wonderfully made. At The ReWild Birth Collective, I offer wholistic care for the childbearing years and beyond — care that sees the whole woman: body, mind, spirit, and story. With plant medicine, prayer, and time-tested tools, I walk alongside you through pregnancy and healing — offering care that strengthens your body and honors your intuition. This isn’t about doing it all “naturally” or perfectly. It’s about remembering what your body already knows — and being supported by someone who can hold space when things get tender, messy, or unknown.

I know firsthand how invaluable doula support is. As an RN, I thought I was well-prepared for childbirth. At the urging of my midwife, I sought doula support for the birth of my 1st baby. My doula’s physical & emotional presence during a long labor & strenuous delivery was crucial, & I left the experience convinced that a doula should be present at every birth. Soon my friends began to come to me for birthing support, & I attended births as a friend & advocate. I fell in love with birth work & completed doula training with ToLabor in April 2020. I help my clients navigate their options to make informed decisions that work well for their family & their goals. I want to make sure you are seen & heard. I love walking alongside families, encouraging & educating them along the way. With 7 years of hospital nursing experience, I understand the ins & outs of the hospital system. As a mom of 3, I know the transition into parenthood is no small thing—I want to be a part of your village!
