Hospitals NEVER listen to concerns or serious problems with me. I need help advocating for myself and understanding everything in a way that isn’t going off of a doctor’s lunch plans. A large example is my experience with severe birth trauma. My first daughter was an emergency C-section due to a car accident I was in. My 2nd daughter was meconium in utero and the doctor didn’t take my clotting disorder seriously to the point I nearly died. I was also put on a spinal block that took 45 minutes to work and it wore off completely before they even started the procedure but failed to document the horrific outcome. My 3rd daughter was planned as a VBAC and I was promised I’d get it, but the doctor claimed that being at 4cm for 1 hour “isn’t considered progressing” despite me still actively progressing and no distress or complications of any kind but she told me that I either get the C-section she pushed or she’d get my children taken from me if I didn’t comply. The spinal block didn’t work whatsoever and I was screaming in unimaginable pain but was told to “get over it” and to “stop being dramatic”. I assumed they gave me something to knock me out but they told me later on that they didn’t. I had remained unconscious for several hours because my body shut down from unnatural pain to that degree. I wasn’t even able to hear my daughter’s first cries. These concerns were brought to her attention prior and I told her she needed to put me under general anesthesia to do the operation but she blatantly refused. I later learned she went against EVERYTHING in my birth plan including my backup in case of a C-section because she “needed more experience”. Now I’ve gone through this pregnancy with extreme complications and have told them repeatedly about needing to be put under with general anesthesia but they aren’t working with me at all. I’m terrified of going through this again and no one seems to listen. They go off the notes of people who lied so they didn’t lose their jobs and it could VERY easily kill me this time due to my medical issues happening currently. I’m more terrified of them not listening and acting appropriately to the situation than I am at the thought of allowing myself to push during contractions and risk my uterus rupturing just to avoid that surgery going wrong AGAIN. I’m planning to give birth at Sister’s Charity Hospital in Buffalo. I need someone who’s covered by my insurance. I can give my birth plan when I match with someone. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

My wife is in her first trimester of our first child. She is currently experiencing a lot of stress and anxiety related to the process surrounding pregnancy. She will give birth at a hospital and I believe do whatever is necessary to facilitate a happy and healthy baby with whatever options are available to her to make her pregnancy/birth go as smoothly as possible. She had an eating disorder in the past and was underweight but has worked very hard to be healthier. She wants the baby, it's something we've worked towards for a few years prior to her falling pregnant but now she actually is, there is a lot of stress and anxiety preventing her from finding any enjoyment during this time which she is struggling with. I believe we would benefit from someone grounded, 'down to earth' with a no-nonsense approach who is still very empathetic and understanding of her situation. Hi there, my name is Jenny- may I am a single mama to soon to be 5 children. I’m currently 17 weeks and 5 days pregnant with my 5th baby and moving to the Cobourg area. I have been having the hardest time finding a midwife that has availability to assist me with my planned home birth ( waitlisted everywhere) or not in the catchment. I have spoke with some other doulas and friends and have decided that I’m open to an unassisted home birth if necessary. It had come to my attention that there is a term called Traditional Birth Assistants who are not medical professionals but perhaps have more experience with the birth process. It is my understanding that these Birth assistants are typically found by word of mouth. I was wondering if you had any knowledge of anyone practicing this in the Cobourg or surrounding areas?

Lastly I was told I have a funneling cervix and have a short cervical length left. So I’m in bedrest. I am 25 weeks pregnant. I switched from seeing a midwife to a high risk doctor.
