I'm having trouble getting my premie to latch. I have large boobs and big nipples, and I saw a lot of lactation consultants in the hospital who told me that she might just have to get a little bit bigger, but I was hoping to get tips on positioning and proper latching. |

Lorissa is looking for Midwife, Lactation Consultant
|
Location: Knollwood, TX 75092, USA
Due date or baby's birthday: August 06, 2026
My husband and I have two children already and I would like to give birth to our third in a birthing center or at home with a midwife, whichever is cheaper. I just really don't want to go to a hospital again, where my husband will have to travel between me and our two other children. I also would really like the most basic, cost effective approach, saving us the most money. If it weren't for the safety aspect of giving birth, I'd just do a free birth alone! That's too scary, though. Birth plan: As little intervention as possible! I've done this twice with not a single complication. I just want to give birth around my family and kids. |

|
Location: Columbus, OH 43204, USA
Due date or baby's birthday: March 02, 2026
Hi, I’m looking for some help with breastfeeding. I have a 1-month-old and I’m struggling with low milk supply, so I’ve had to supplement with formula due to slow weight gain. My doctor recommended I pause direct nursing and focus on pumping to better track my supply. I’m usually getting around 2 oz total per session, but often less than 1 oz, while my baby is needing about 3 oz per feeding. She also suggested I see a lactation consultant to evaluate my baby’s latch. She had a good latch during the first few weeks, but lately she’s been very frustrated at the breast. Her latch now seems shallow and “lazy.” I’ve tried different holds and techniques to help her latch deeper, but she either cries and won’t stay latched, or latches only briefly while pulling her head back and biting down, which is causing me pain. |

Where do you plan to give birth (home or hospital)? We are planning a hospital birth, with the intention to labor at home as long as it is safe before going to the hospital. Estimated budget Our estimated budget for doula support is $1,200 to $2,000. We recognize this is a significant investment and are prioritizing it because this is our first birth and we are aiming for a low-intervention experience. Describe your birth plan We are planning, for the most part, an unmedicated hospital birth and strongly want to avoid an epidural. We are open to nitrous oxide (laughing gas) as a pain management option if needed. Movement during labor is very important to us, including walking, upright labor positions, and frequent position changes to support comfort and labor progress. We are looking for a doula who is comfortable providing early labor support at home, along with hands-on comfort measures, breathing and grounding techniques, and partner coaching. Advocacy is also important to us. We want support with communicating and upholding our birth preferences with hospital staff, as well as maintaining clear boundaries around who is present during labor, including support with limiting family presence in the birthing room. We value calm, evidence-informed guidance that prioritizes safety while supporting our goals. |
