Frequently asked questions

How is HypnoBirthing different from other childbirth education classes?

HypnoBirthing encompasses all of the information from a traditional childbirth education class, but with SO much more! Here are some things that make HypnoBirthing special: A deep emphasis on the mind-body connection; how your mind impacts your birth and your physiology Prioritizing bonding with your partner and baby before, during, and after birth. Lots of information and conversations about hospital routines, procedures, and interventions so you can make informed choices. In-depth education on the function of your amazing uterus and hormones so you can work WITH labor, not against it.

Are there any spiritual practices in the program?

No. There are alot of misconceptions about what Hypnobirthing is! Hypnobirthing does not include any religious or spiritual belief system. It is simply a philosophy and technique for a peaceful and positive birth

Does HypnoBirthing really work?

HypnoBirthing® has been chosen by thousands of expecting parents throughout the world to prepare for the birth of their child. Educators consistently receive positive birth stories from their students and testimonials about how grateful they were for the tools and techniques to use throughout pregnancy, birth, and beyond. So yes, it works! While not every mama who takes a HypnoBirthing class experiences a physiological birth, parents who have taken this course have reported fewer interventions and greater satisfaction. HypnoBirthing is for all parents and all types of births! This course will provide you with support, knowledge, and tools for achieving your birth goals and it is designed to give you the best chance at having a instinctual and peaceful birth, while also preparing parents to navigate whatever path their birth takes. There is no way to “fail” HypnoBirthing! Every new baby is a beautiful success however they arrive!

What is the "hypno" in HypnoBirthing?

The “hypnosis” affilation with hypnobirthing refers to relaxation techniques. While it is often referred to as "hypnosis," it’s not about going into a deep trance or losing control. Instead, it focuses on using the power of the mind to reduce stress, fear, and pain by promoting deep relaxation.

When is the best time to start the class?

The best time to take the class is between 20 and 35 weeks of pregnancy. So you have adequate amount of time to practice and prepare.

Can partners/birth companions come to the classes?

Yes! Ideally, partners will come with you to every class and will be very much involved. They are taught how to be an active, calming presence, helping to create a peaceful environment, assisting with the techniques during labor, along with learning to advocate for you in whatever setting you choose to give birth in.

Will my insurance cover the cost of HypnoBirthing classes?

Some insurances do cover the cost of childbirth education classes or may allow the use of a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Care Savings Account (HSA) to pay for prenatal classes. I am more than happy to provide the necessary paperwork for insurance reimbursement.
