"Faith-rooted doula care for calm, physiological birth & a peaceful postpartum. LA & OC." Hi, I’m Teejay Casado, a faith-based certified birth and postpartum doula serving LA & Orange Counties. Through Temple & Terrain Birthworks, I support mothers in trusting the natural, physiological process of birth while feeling empowered and prepared for whatever path their birth may take. My focus is on minimizing trauma and toxicity while cultivating peace, calm, and a soul-filled, faith-rooted experience for both mother and family. With a background in anthropology, I honor birth as both an ancient physiological process and a sacred rite of passage. I offer compassionate birth support, postpartum care, Ayurvedic bodywork, and whole-food-based nutritional guidance—creating a safe, nurturing space where mothers can step into their transformation with confidence and grace.

Teejay is an incredibly thorough and attentive massage therapist. She takes her time, giving careful attention to every muscle and joint, and truly listens to my specific needs. Her knowledge of postpartum recovery and infant care is impressive — clearly reflecting her experience as a mom of three. I always leave feeling rejuvenated and well cared for. I would highly, highly recommend her to other moms, especially those navigating postpartum recovery.

I was inspired to become a midwife in the first delivery room I ever entered. My own! The experience lit a fire in me that I knew would have to burn long and low as my attention was focused on my new baby. While still nursing him I undertook training to become a doula. I knew I wanted to be a midwife, but with a young son of my own, I was not ready at that time for the huge educational commitment. I was a practicing doula for 4 years before I was ready to take the next step. I wanted the chance to make more of a difference. I knew that the hospital nurses could influence a birth powerfully, as they had with mine. Becoming a labor and delivery nurse was my chance to make other women’s birth experiences more positive. Before going to nursing school I had a second son- this time in the care of loving midwives Connie and Tai at the Hollywood Birth Center on Sunset Boulevard. After an immersive two year program, I became a registered nurse at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in their labor and delivery department, where I had the opportunity to learn among the best. I loved my job so much that after my next birth- twin boys, I chose to remain at Cedars-Sinai for another 10 years. During the time I was a nurse I was honored to meet and work with the legendary CNM Debbie Frank who had the first hybrid home/ hospital private midwifery practice in Los Angeles- mine was the second. She was the inspiration for my future practice model. In 2015, with the unwavering support of my loving husband and father of my five amazing boys, I decided it was time to take the next step to becoming a certified nurse-midwife. I began to assist midwives at home births and then embarked on the final leg of my journey to midwifery, the 3-year bridge to Masters degree program at Frontier Nursing University. As much as I enjoy supporting families to birth at home, I saw there was a need in our community for a private hospital based midwifery practice that upheld the hallmarks of midwifery. I decided to be the change I wanted to see and applied for hospital privileges. I am thrilled to be a midwife and so honored to be able to continue to serve women in the setting of their choice, whether it be their home, or one of the best hospitals in Los Angeles. I have worked as a midwife in my own private practice, Gracefull Birthing Center, and as a co-founder and midwife at Los Angeles Midwives. My education at Frontier Nursing University instilled a strong respect for and belief in evidence-based practice (EBP); I am also committed to honoring a woman’s intuition, including my own while treating each person (and family) as an individual as well as the traditional art of midwifery that is learned through working together and story-telling among midwives.. As much as I love to read, cook and bake for my family and friends, hike, and play with our giant golden doodle Royce, I mostly spend my personal time with my newest son Olivier born in the water at home in 2021 and my teenagers. Also, I love having playdates with other midwives and families with whom I have become close after attending their births.

It is with pleasure that I write this review for Veronica Hinojosa, who served as my postpartum doula and night nurse. During one of the most vulnerable times in my life, Veronica’s motherly presence provided an immense sense of comfort and reassurance. Her warmth, kindness, and professionalism made all the difference in my postpartum journey. Veronica’s expertise and guidance were invaluable, particularly when it came to bottle feeding and establishing a daytime nap routine. Her advice was practical and effective, helping us create a rhythm that worked well for our baby. More than anything, I always felt secure knowing my little one was in her capable hands. Her natural talent for soothing and caring for infants gave me the peace of mind to truly rest and recharge for the following day. Additionally, Veronica’s dedication extended beyond her own services—when she was unavailable, she ensured we had reliable backup care through one of her trusted associates. This level of commitment and foresight further demonstrated her professionalism and reliability. I am incredibly grateful for Veronica’s support and would recommend her to any family in need of a compassionate, knowledgeable, and dependable postpartum doula or night nurse. She has been an invaluable part of our early parenting experience, and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

I come from a family of birth workers and OTs —so supporting people through this part of life has always felt familiar and important to me. Over time, I realized how much I care about helping people feel empowered and heard, especially during birth, when they need it most. I believe in practical, down-to-earth support that combines knowledge, empathy, and a warm presence (plus a little humor when it’s needed). I try to meet each person where they are and support the kind of birth they want—whether that’s quiet and private or full of conversation and teamwork. To me, birth is a shared experience, but the birthing person is always at the center. I see my role as making sure they feel respected, cared for, and in charge of their experience.

Nurture The Divine is rooted in serving and empowering women to achieve the birth experience of their dreams. There is so much transformation that occurs during all 4 trimesters of pregnancy and it’s important for women to feel understood, heard, and validated during this sacred time. My doula approach encompasses physical, emotional, educational, and energetic support in a warm and loving space. My goal is to bring truly comprehensive, safe, healing, and whole-hearted doula care to all the beautiful families that I am blessed to interact with. I truly believe there is immense value in providing a safe space for the divine feminine to shine. Even in rare cases when medical interventions are necessary for the safety of mom and baby, the sacred nature of birth can still be preserved.

I don't even know where to start. I am almost 3 weeks postpartum and have been heavily reflecting on my pregnancy, labor, and delivery as a first-time mom. I matched with Kalista when I was about 20 weeks pregnant. The kindness, support, and education provided by Kalista from day 1 has made the entire experience incredibly memorable. My plan was to have an unmedicated birth, but complications along the way forced an induction and an epidural. My body continued to struggle to dilate, which caused a very uncomfortable, prolonged labor. There were many moments of feeling very challenged and overwhelmed. Kalista stayed by my side in the hospital the entire time, as soon as I was admitted. Kalista provided ambient lighting, meditation music, electrolytes, stress tools (ball and labor comb), suggested positions to try during contractions, and massaged my legs during the most intense times. One of the most memorable things I will always remember during my labor and delivery was her soft, kind words of encouragement during painful moments and during my actual delivery. I honestly can say that I wouldn't have been able to overcome the challenges without her and my fiance by my side. I was hard on myself when the turn of events changed my birth plan. Kalista made my fiance and I feel comfortable and confident that we could overcome it all and still have a positive delivery. When I look back on everything, I can honestly say that I will miss the entire experience and parts of me wish that it wasn't over. If I ever have another baby, I hope that Kalista is available again to help me have another positive birth experience. We are so grateful for her!

Hi there, I’m Becky and have been working with new families since 2016 as a doula and parent educator in the Los Angeles, Ca and surrounding communities. I truly believe the support of a new mother starts during pregnancy and through the first year postpartum. I am a first generation Latinx woman and use the pronouns She/Her/Ella. I primarily grew up in Whittier, CA, but spend several years in Nayarit, Mexico. I am married with 3 beautiful children of my own. I hope I can help you plan for the best birth and postpartum period imaginable.

After learning about postpartum doulas during my birth prep, I knew that was a support my husband and I would want after the birth of our first child. My mother isn't really in my life, my mother-in-law wasn't going to be available, and we felt like we had no idea what we were doing. Enter Becky! From the very beginning, Becky was a steady and knowledgeable voice, guiding us through this massive shift in our lives. She was there from the beginning, teaching us everything from breastfeeding tips and first baths to developmental milestones. All the nervous questions I had, that would have led us straight to urgent care countless times, she had a logical and fact-based answer for. When she was over, I could take a break to shower or do something for myself, knowing my baby was in excellent hands. Even her and our reactive dog became besties. By the end of our three months together she was more like a big sister to me than someone we hired to help us. Our little family loves her and we highly recommend her to anyone looking for a postpartum doula.

Hi, I'm Alison! It wasn’t until I cared for my nephew for 2 years that I realized the significant impact a doula can bring by supporting new parents as well as the whole family. I have always been passionate about the importance of creating supportive and nurturing spaces. I am also a musical artist and have been singing since I was a child. Using my voice to help others is very fulfilling and I believe it can be a powerful tool for healing. Being in the outdoors and with animals as well as dancing are few of my interests. I am also a trained postpartum doula through DONA International, am working towards DONA certification and am CPR/First Aid certified. My pronouns are she/her.

Angela was a phenomenal birth doula and we totally recommend her to any family! After my 4-day long labor where I hemorrhaged and tore with my first child, I was anxious and wary about how my second birth would go. I came to Angela with various requests and fears and she helped guide me through them all. Angela is incredibly professional and knowledgeable about pregnancy, labor, and birth. We LOVED all of the resources she shared with us. During labor, she was with us for it's entirety and she was such a cheerleader. She was hands on, an expert guide, and was beyond proactive when leading me through stretches/movements/exercises, shielding me from the medical noise, and advocating for my desires. In the end, I delivered my baby much faster than my first, I did not tear nor hemorrhage and I came home feeling bliss and redemption. You need Angela at your birth!!!

I am a first time single mom and was worried about taking care of my daughter Emma, alone and recovering from birth at the same time. Violet helped me with both night and day shifts. Violets day shifts depended on my needs for the day. Some days she was just happy to make me lunch and do laundry for me and Emma. Some days I needed some time alone and she was there to do tummy time with Emma, put her down for naps, and sing to her. When she was on nights she was there to burp, change, and settle the baby down again after I breast fed her so I was able to sleep a little more. She always had cleaned any bottles she would use by the morning and would make us both coffee before I got up. She even gave me a slight discount knowing I didn't have a two income household witch helped me a lot in the long run.

We cannot say enough good things about Zala! She is absolutely amazing and hiring her was the best decision we've made for our little girl. Zala is a wealth of knowledge and incredibly professional. She put our minds at ease from night one, and helped create a schedule for our daughter and got her sleep trained within just a few short months. This is our first child, so naturally we weren't sure what to expect, but having Zala was like having a personal, dedicated, expert caregiver that truly cared about her wellbeing and was open to discussing and working with us as we navigated the first few months of her life. We would give her 10 stars, if we could. She is worth every penny and is an amazing person and will undoubtedly make a lasting impression on anyone she works with.

Hi 👋🏼 I am a postpartum doula, meeting families where they are at. I assist with preparing meals, light housework, baby care, lactation support, bottle feeding support, and providing resources. I am a mother of two myself and love empowering parents in such a special time. I work day shifts, late nights and overnights.

Recent review

Barbara was an amazing support for my family in the first weeks of our daughters arrival. She came over the evening we got home from the hospital and because of her I was not anxious to bring my baby home and not know what to do. I had her to ask questions, give support and be an extra set of hands. In the few weeks Barbara was in our home, she made sure my main focus was being with my baby and healing my body. She aided in nourishing my body with healthy snacks, drinks and meals as well as taught me the reasons behind the healing properties certain ingredients had. There were countless times I didn’t need to ask for help on things around the house, Barbara would be one step ahead of me already doing it. This created a great flow between the two of us. The advice and knowledge that Barbara gave my family eased our mind many times. My husband was able to return to work knowing that baby and I were well taken care of and supported. Her support exceeded my expectations of what a postpartum doula brings to your family. Thank you Barbara for the wonderful experience. You helped our family in the best way possible.

As a first-time mom navigating those exhausting newborn nights, having he support made all the difference. She brought a calming presence, a wealth of knowledge, and so much genuine care for our son. From creating a gentle routine to helping us understand his cues, Elena guided us every step of the way and gave us the confidence (and rest!) we truly needed.
