We are planning for an unmedicated hospital birth at Kaiser Oakland and are interested in in-person doula support. It’s our first baby! We’re hoping for support in preparing thoughtful and flexible birth preferences ahead of time, comfort and education throughout labor/birth, helping to hold our birth plan with the medical team during labor/birth, and guiding us through the unpredictability of labor so we can stay present with eachother/body/baby and make informed decisions as they come. Also curious about your openness to capture photo/video during birth. We are also interested in postpartum support, though we’re still learning and exploring what might be most resourcing, but are especially interested in breastfeeding support, settling into life at home, and support with my physical recovery. I am looking for a doula that can support me during birth and postpartum. I am located in Alameda and will likely be giving birth at the San Leandro Kaiser or Oakland Kaiser if I find the right doula. I currently have Kaiser and have confirmed that my insurance does cover doula support. I plan on birthing at the hospital, and I will be using pain medication to support me. I'm mostly looking for advocacy due to a traumatic birth experience at Kaiser Oakland, where they kept trying to push a C-section and tore my water without consent.

Hello Allison, I hope this finds you well. This is my first pregnancy. I am in need of a doula to guide myself and my husband, Shaheen, through the pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum period (including breastfeeding). We are hoping you can provide us with specific, actionable ways for Shaheen to support me during pregnancy, especially during labor, and during the postpartum period. I hope to labor at home as long as possible, avoid the epidural if possible, and I really would like to avoid a C-section. I am eager to learn about natural birthing techniques and positions that work with my body and gravity.
