This is my first pregnancy and I’m still in the very early stages, so I’m looking for someone who is highly knowledgeable, experienced, and well-educated who can help guide me through the process. I don’t have a birth plan yet and haven’t decided where I would like to give birth. I plan to give birth at NRGH and my family doctor is an OBGYN so he will be my provider throught my pregnancy. I hope to give birth vaginally with some kind of medical pain management however its important to me that I be able to move around and Id rather not give birth on my back. I will be giving birth at Richmond Birth Centre and am looking for someone who: • Has solid experience supporting births and is comfortable with early labour, active labour and postpartum support • Lives in or is very close to Richmond and can provide reliable, short notice/on-call support when labour begins • Is fully vaccinated and up to date with routine vaccinations • Is calm, supportive and reassuring, especially for a first-time mother who may need some extra emotional reassurance • Is available for birth support on an hourly basis, as I would prefer to pay based on the actual hours of support rather than a fixed package • Is also available for overnight newborn/postpartum support after the birth My preference would be to start with birth support on an hourly basis. If we are a good fit and I am happy with the support, I would be interested in continuing with the same doula for overnight postpartum/newborn support during the first few weeks.
