absolutely amazing experience. having Sage(and tec) as my supports meant the world to me. I felt safe and supported, they helped me hold my boundaries with hospital staff, they helped me have the birth I wanted to have with my firstborn. it was a very healing process, and I feel so blessed to have had both of them in my journey. had I not had their support, my birth would have ended up very dramatically different, and there is a possibility I would have decided against another pregnancy. I definitely plan on using their services for another pregnancy and postpartum

I recently reconnected with Sage and she asked me to post a review, since I was the very first birth she ever attended. Sage wasn't a doula when she was there for my kids births, she was just a friend who had given birth before, and who offered to support me when I was young, inexperienced and alone. I had a boyfriend, but they were his first kids too and we were both scared. Between us asking her to be at the birth, and me going into labor the first time, she learned so so much about birth and postpartum and taught me so much. I didn't go to a birth class but I felt way more prepared one she started sharing what she'd learned. When the time came, and I was in labor, I told her and she drove from Atascadero to San Diego, made the 6 hour drive in 5 hours, and was with us for the hardest part of the birth. I still wonder if I could have done it without her help and I really don't think so. Having her there with me was so helpful that I even asked her to be there for my son a few years later, and asked her to go to a friend's birth as well. I'm really glad that she's doing this now, even if it took her 15 years before she decided to do it. I'm so glad we reconnected and I could share this, and I'm so proud to be the very first birth she attended and supported.

Sage is one of those people that it’s just so easy to connect with, you forget you haven’t been old friends for years. Birth is terrifying, the education system is lacking and at least where I grew up, wasn’t really talked about. So trying to navigate both the lack of information out there, as well as misinformation is hard enough as it is – let alone being pregnant in the process. To have that level of connection with someone as they guided me through pregnancy, delivery, and especially postpartum support was a blessing, and I feel like there’s not enough words in the world to express that adequately. I couldn’t have asked for a better doula, Sage is a gift to anyone their working with.

Sage was initially hired as a birth doula, but not far into my partner’s pregnancy, they miscarried. Sage’s support as a doula and experience with their own losses was really amazing. I’d never been through anything like that, and neither had my wife. They did so well helping show me how to be supportive, and making space for me to grieve by myself and with my wife. I don’t know that there’s anything better they could have done to support our family. If we decide to try again, she’s definitely our doula.

Sage is one of the most empathetic and caring human beings I have had the pleasure of working with. Their humility while working with clients is unmatched, willing to admit when they need to more thoroughly research something, and also able to provide logical alternatives based on client demographics. They take the time to consider the clients wants and needs to give them the best birth experience they can have. Their care for each unique pregnancy has helped over a dozen families as they transition into their new lives. Sage is also an amazing collaborator, focused on working as a peer, rather than as the expert. Every opportunity to work with them I welcome with delight, as I know the environment will be a relaxing, affirming, and safe environment.

She has been amazing with helping our family prepare for this birth even with being long distance. She has provided my husband and I resources on how to prepare for my anticipated vbac, sent us videos and learning materials to help with stress and when I was confined to the hospital for a week she was on call for me even if I just needed to have someone to talk to day or night. I even recommended her to a friend who is a first time mom.

Sage was my primary support while giving birth to my son. As a transman, the concept of giving birth in a traditional hospital setting was honestly kind of terrifying. Sage helped to keep me comfortable, keep labor going, and keep the staff from misgendering or dead naming me. I don’t plan to have any more kids, but if I do, I hope she’s there.

I am physically disabled, due to a back injury from high school. When I conceived my son, I knew I would need support, as my family didn’t approve. When I hired her for support for my pregnancy and c-section, I wanted to choose someone who had been through it and could help me with what I should expect. She went above and beyond. Not only helping me prepare for the surgery, but helping to prepare our home, the baby’s space, supporting us from the moment we were in the hospital until after the delivery, even helping to keep the room calm when our parents, step parents, and siblings were visiting.
