I want to do it in a calm setting and I would like an affordable price. Birth Plan Environment & Labor Preferences: I would like a calm and relaxed environment with dim lighting. I prefer to move around freely during labor and try different pushing positions. I do not want coached or forced pushing and would like to follow my body’s natural urges. I would also like to eat and drink freely during labor. Medical Preferences: I prefer limited cervical checks and would like to avoid an epidural unless it becomes medically necessary. Delivery & Immediately After Birth: I would like delayed cord clamping until the cord turns white. I want immediate skin-to-skin contact after birth. Newborn Care: I prefer that the baby is gently wiped off instead of bathed right away, and I do not want a bath during the hospital stay. I do not want the Hep B vaccine given at birth. Feeding & Bonding: I plan to breastfeed and would like support with breastfeeding. I prefer that my baby stays in the room with me at all times (no nursery). Support People: I would like my husband and my mother present for support. I would like my husband to cut the umbilical cord

I am not sure yet where i don’t mind it to be at a hospital but it could also be a water birth I wanted to do a more holistic way. No vaccinations, not cutting the placenta right away, i do not know ranges and or budgeting I plan to use insurance coverage that will cover all or majority of the cost, 🙏🏾

Hospital birth No idea on how much doulas cost and don’t want to offend anyone. Least possible interventions, naturally go into labor, no pitocin, no cervical checks, no cord clamping, immediate skin to skin, breastfeeding within first few minutes, no tugging on cord for placenta, no vaccines.

My name is Lyndsey Klein, and I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, graduating this May. I am enrolled in an Advanced Multicultural Counseling course, and for a course project I am focusing on Black maternal health and disparities in maternity care. I am reaching out to see if any doula or anyone who works within your organization might be willing to participate in a brief interview (approximately 30–45 minutes) to share insights from their professional experience supporting Black mothers. My goal is to better understand systemic barriers, protective factors, and ways mental health professionals can more effectively advocate for and support Black women during pregnancy and postpartum.
