I'd recommend Shanice to any new mum, especially first-timers. I was very determined to breastfeed my newborn but the first couple of days were hard. With just a few tips from the nurses at the hospital, I didn't really know what I was doing. Unbeknownst to me, my baby had a shallow latch, so even though she was transferring milk okay, by day three my nipples were cracked and sore and breastfeeding became unbearable. I reached out to Shanice and she responded incredibly quickly which made such a difference during those overwhelming early days. She guided me through different positioning techniques (especially as someone with larger breasts) like adjusting my cross-cradle hold and helped me get my baby to achieve a deeper latch, through messaging and video consultations. She informed me about tongue tie and helped me work through cluster feeding and managing my oversupply, what to do with the excess milk. She thoroughly answered every question as my body adjusted from nipple soreness to the engorgement and strong letdown sensations when my milk came in and gave me so much encouragement to keep going. Beyond the technical side, she helped calm my postpartum anxiety around feeding and made me feel so much less overwhelmed. By week two, my latch had improved so much that I felt fully confident breastfeeding and Shanice continued to check in whenever issues came up like a mastitis scare. With her support, I went on to exclusively breastfeed for 20 months!
