About me

Hello everyone, I’m Laura, a registered Midwife, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and mum based in London. I created Real Mama to support parents through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding and those early days with a new baby. I’ve worked in maternity care for many years, both as a midwife and previously as a nurse and theatre practitioner, and I’m passionate about providing evidence-based information alongside genuine, compassionate support. As an IBCLC, I particularly love helping families feel more confident and comfortable with breastfeeding, while respecting that every feeding journey is unique. I’m also passionate about creating positive experiences for parents beyond the clinical side of maternity care. Through Real Mama, I offer antenatal and postnatal support, breastfeeding consultations, baby-led weaning guidance and Baby Salsa classes — because I believe becoming a parent should also be about connection, confidence, community and having fun! Becoming a mum myself has given me an even deeper understanding of the joys, challenges and sometimes overwhelming moments that come with having a baby. My aim is to create a warm, judgement-free space where parents feel listened to, supported and empowered to make the choices that are right for their family.

Real Mama offers personalised, evidence-based support throughout pregnancy, birth and the early parenting journey. Services include antenatal education, postnatal and newborn support, breastfeeding & lactation consultations with an IBCLC, and baby-led weaning guidance. My approach is warm, practical and judgement-free, helping families feel informed, confident and supported in their choices.

Antenatal Breastfeeding Consultation
I often hear expectant parents say, “I don’t know if I can do this” or “I wish I knew more before baby arrives.” Feeling prepared can make a huge difference to your confidence in those early days. That’s why antenatal sessions are designed to help you feel informed, calm, and ready — so you can approach feeding your baby with knowledge, confidence and realistic expectations. Together, we’ll explore your goals, discuss what to expect, and build a strong foundation for your feeding journey before your baby arrives. Up to 90 minutes (£110 face-to-face or £80 online) What we’ll cover: - How breastfeeding works and what to expect in the early days - Skin-to-skin and the importance of the first feed - Positioning and attachment for a comfortable, effective latch - Recognising hunger cues and early feeding signs - Understanding milk supply and how it develops Hand expression of colostrum antenatally (if appropriate) - How to know if feeding is going well - Your personal questions and birth feeding plan

First postnatal lactation consultation
Bringing your baby home can feel beautiful, overwhelming, and at times uncertain. Many parents wonder, “Is this normal?” or “Am I doing this right?” You don’t need to figure it out alone. Postnatal consultations provide calm, expert, hands-on support to help you and your baby establish or improve feeding in a way that feels achievable and sustainable for you. I come to you (or support you online) and we work through everything together, step by step. Up to 2 hours (face-to-face) Includes WhatsApp support for 7 days after your consultation for follow-up questions related to your session Online support available instead of face to face: £100 (up to 60 minutes) Please note: in some cases, an online consultation may be limited, and a follow-up face-to-face visit might be recommended if a full assessment or hands-on feeding support is needed for the most accurate and effective care. This service does not include Whatsapp support. What we’ll cover: - Full feeding and birth history - Observation of a full feed where possible - Positioning and latch assessment and adjustments - Feeding effectiveness and milk transfer assessment (including whether your baby is feeding efficiently at the breast) - Breast assessment (e.g. engorgement, blocked ducts, soreness if needed) - Baby oral function and feeding behaviour assessment if relevant - Personalised feeding plan tailored to you and your baby - Ongoing reassurance, confidence-building and practical guidance - Your questions answered in full

Follow-Up Breastfeeding Support Consultation
Breastfeeding is a journey, and sometimes you need extra reassurance, guidance, or small adjustments along the way. Whether you want to check in on your progress, refine positioning, or talk through new challenges, follow-up support helps you continue feeling confident and supported as you move forward. This session is designed for families who have already had an initial postnatal consultation with me and need continued, tailored support. La semana pasada fui por primera vez a las clases de salsa y bachata con bebé y mamá de Laura, ¡y la verdad es que me encantó! ❤️ Sebastián disfrutó muchísimo la primera mitad de la clase y la segunda mitad… ¡se quedó dormido! 😂 Así que creo que eso ya dice bastante de lo cómodo y feliz que estuvo. Laura es súper buena explicando los pasos, tiene muchísima paciencia y hace que aprender sea fácil y divertido. Además, poder poner en práctica lo aprendido haciendo una canción completa es súper divertido y hace que la clase se pase volando. Pero lo que más me gustó fue el ambiente. Las otras mamás fueron súper simpáticas y es muy chévere poder conocer a otras mamis que están viviendo una etapa parecida. Al terminar la clase incluso fuimos a tomar un soft drink y estuvimos compartiendo un rato más, así que la experiencia no termina cuando acaba la música. 🥰 Sin duda, estas clases van a formar parte de las actividades que haga con mi hijo. Nos divertimos juntos, aprendemos a bailar, hacemos ejercicio, conocemos a otras mamás y bebés y, además, pasamos un rato genial con Laura, que es súper simpática y hace que todo sea aún más especial. ¡100% recomendada! 💃🏻👶🏻❤️

A sus 22 meses le pusimos los aretes a Azul, nuestra bebé! Fue su decisión como siempre lo soñamos y decidimos hacerlo juntas. No pudimos encontrar mejor persona para ponerlos que Laura, es enfermera, midwife y lo hizo de la manera más especial, no dolió, no lloró y después del primero Azul pidió el otro. Además Azul jugó con Sofi, la bebé de Laura que es un encanto divino y se sintió la mañana más espectacular de la semana. Un planazo, no la podemos recomendar más.

Best way to bond with little one whilst lifting the mood up and doing some exercise. Laura is amazing at teaching, conducting and counseling during and after the classes. Great music, dance moves, nice setting, great time !

Conocí a Laura por su cuenta en instagram, y la contacte para ponerle los pendientes a mi bebe de 4 meses. Vivimos lejos de ella, pero vino a casa con todo el equipo muy limpio y cuidado y le abrió los pendientes a mi niña. Ella ni lloro en el primero y el segundo apenas se dio cuenta, también me abrí uno con ella. Laura es excelente siempre estuvo pendiente de nosotras y nos explico todo claramente. 100% recomendada!

Laura is an amazing teacher and her classes are the absolute BEST!
