I had a very traumatic first birth 16 months ago and I would like to go all natural with this baby. I had retained placenta they put in the epidural 6 times before they got it on the 7th try. I had to have a dnc and a unit of blood 5 days postpartum. My iron was low for at least 4 months after birth making it hard to do anything. I would like a home, water birth. I am not sure what our budget is. I just know this is our last child, and every one of my labors has always been traumatic. I’ve always gone through experiences where I am told not to push, or it’s not time to push, or let’s regulate your pain when I knew it was time to give birth especially for babies #4 & #5. My last birth was extremely traumatic I went in and baby was crowning and I was told not to push for 4 hours and baby was then forced out when her heart rate dropped. Her collarbone was broken during labor and nothing was done. I would like to have a peaceful and happy experience as my last one

As I will be a single Momma by choice I’m looking for support, advocacy, and coaching during the labor/delivery, which is my primary concern. I’m a healthy woman will be giving birth at age 52.

I am giving birth at OSU with the midwives. I am keeping the same midwife throughout pregnancy (rather than meeting with lots of them), so am expecting an unknown midwife at the birth. Because of this, I want to have the consistency of a doula I know will be at the birth. This is my 2nd birth. It was helpful to have a doula the first time for tips and tricks and to give my husband ideas and I hope for the same again. I had an unmedicated vaginal birth last time and hope to do the same again. We have Tricare insurance and ideally would find someone covered by insurance.
