About me

With a background in special education and master’s degrees in anthropology and education, I bring both professional training and lived experience to my work as a postpartum doula. I’ve always been drawn to helping people, and over the years I’ve supported families as a special education teacher, a service coordinator for children with disabilities, and a Behavior Specialist Consultant. These experiences and being a mother myself, shape how I support families today. I believe every family’s story is different, and I’m committed to offering compassionate, non-judgmental care that meets you where you are. My goal is to create a calm, safe space where you feel heard, supported, and cared for during the postpartum transition.

Service introduction

I provide in-home daytime postpartum doula services in the Pittsburgh, PA area. Families typically schedule 2-3 days per week, between 4-6 hours per visit, for the first 1-3 months. We can work together to determine the amount of time that meets your needs. My aim is to help ease your transition into parenthood or adding another member to your family. Some of the ways I help are: -give you time and opportunity to rest, shower, and have alone time -cook meals and snacks for you and your family -help keep the house and home in order with light housekeeping -teach you how to soothe a fussy baby -help you understand feeding your baby -answer questions about infant care like swaddling, bathing, diapering -provide companionship and emotional support during a time that has a high risk for developing mood disorders

Sheri was the most wonderful friend and guide during the first few months of motherhood. As a new mom, I felt so grateful every time she visited us. She is so caring and knowledgeable. Each visit she would help with my newborn and with household tasks, and I was able to rest. Now my baby is six months, and I know our family is happier and healthier because of her support. l highly recommend Sheri!

My family's experience with Sheri exceeded my expectations. She guided my husband and I through the toughest transition of our lives and left us feeling informed, supported and confident in our new roles as parents. Sheri listened to our worries and struggles and found ways to support us in ways that we didn't even know we needed. Sheri never judged our parenting style and always gave us a new perspective. She cooked meals for us, helped with laundry, cared for our son, made sure we were taking care of ourselves and so much more. I would have signed up for at least 3 months with her off the bat if I knew just how much I'd miss her when our time ended. I can't recommend her enough and I tell everyone I know about how positive our experience was. Sheri is the best doula and such a cool human!

Sheri is a post-partum angel disguised as a doula. As new, first time parents we were about as lost and overwhelmed as one could be. Sheri helped us get into a spot where while still lost and overwhelmed, we could take better care of our newborn. Without her help, we’d be starving and drowning in dishes and laundry. Our newborn loved her. She fed, bathed, and kept him from fussing. She kept us fed, in clean clothing, and most importantly, allowed us to rest. I don’t know what we would have done without her. I would hire her again in a heartbeat.

Sheri was an absolute Godsend to our family - as a type-A, always-busy type of person that never takes time to relax, my favorite thing about Sheri is that she comes with a plan and knows what you need before you do. Sheri was kind to my older child and was a wizard at babywearing so I could actually take the time durnig her visits to rest. I am so grateful for her!

After the birth complications, coming home knowing Sheri would be around to help in the first weeks is so comforting. She is so calm and knowledgeable with the baby. She always checks in on me mentally and physically to make sure I have enough resting, eat and drink as I should. She is also a great baker. Her lactation recipes helped a lot to bring my supply up. The fourth trimester went by so much smoother than we expected thanks to her! I highly recommend Sheri

Having Sheri around to help out after the birth of our son helped us to navigate everything from the stressful moments of the challenges of early breastfeeding to the mundane, but similarly important, task of bath time. While I suspect we could have figured out those first weeks without her help, her regular presence gave us a little space to take care of ourselves too and enjoy our expanded family. Sheri's presence in our house was calm and caring. If you're even considering hiring her do it - everyone in your household will appreciate it.

Hiring Sheri was one of the best decisions my husband and I made for postpartum. As new parents, Sheri brought so much knowledge that made us more confident as parents when we were on our own. Not only was she a baby whisperer to our son, but she provided great support with cooking, tidying up, and laundry following my c-section. We will definitely continue to use Sheri as we grow our family.

Sheri was an absolute God send during my postpartum with my daughter. Our house was really turned upsidedown with the birth of our second. She was just the support I needed. She always seemed to be in tune with my needs that were ever changing by the day. She could sense when I needed to be fed, when I needed sleep, or needed an ear to talk to. I must say she is also an excellent cook. I was following a mixture of confinement practices and she was willing to learn the recipes I provided. She was a true baby whisperer with my daughter and kept her comforted so I could get valuable sleep. My toddler absolutely adored Sheri, he would ask for her and was excited to see her after preschool. As a person without much of a support system, I was not used to having someone I could lean on and ask for help; I was nervous going into it. Sheri made it so easy, and to be honest I felt truly cared for and it really meant the world to me! I wish I could have booked her for every day of the week instead of 3.

For my second baby, I knew I needed more support. Sherilyn was critical to finding out rhythm in those first wild weeks: helping to ease infant tummy troubles, troubleshoot latch issues, and even sleep arrangements. Beyond that, Sherilyn kept me sane and cared for by allowing me to sleep and shower while she made sure I had healthy meals to eat. So glad we had her and could not recommend her calm, reassuring expertise enough.
