Hi Carmen, I am looking for post-partum doula services and specifically someone who is willing to support overnight care. I would be using some Carrot Fertility benefits to pay for services for about 3 months. In order to be reimbursable, the person must meet the following criteria: Certification The doula must have an active, up-to-date certification from a recognized doula-certifying organization conferring upon them the title of doula. Workshops or certificates of attendance are not acceptable substitutes. Certifying organizations include but are not limited to DONA International, Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA), International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA), and BirthWorks International. They'll be asked to upload this certification when they complete the attestation form. Please note that their certification must cover the type(s) of service provided: Full spectrum doula certification (valid for all doula services) Birth doula certification (valid for prenatal, birth, or postpartum services) Postpartum doula certification (valid for postpartum services) Bereavement doula certification (valid for bereavement services) Training The doula must have attended at least 24 hours of evidence-informed training that included one or more of the following areas: Physiology of labor Labor doula training Antepartum doula training Postpartum doula training Bereavement training In addition, the doula must do periodic certification renewals and/or continuing education. Experience The doula must be at least 18 years old. Within the past three years, they must have a minimum of 15 hours providing doula services in one or more of the following areas: Continuous labor support for at least three childbirths as the primary labor doula supporting the birthing parent. At least two of those births must be vaginal births. The doula must also have provided antepartum and postpartum support for at least one birth. Birthing location, my OBGYN has a specific hospital. I prefer birthing center but what we is covered by my insurance. I’d prefer to go unmedicated so though a doula would be a great addition. Cost would like to be as reasonable as possible since I don’t think my insurance covers it and cost of delivery is already being paid for. I’d prefer to do the most holistic approaches possible, visualization, meditation, hypnosis. I’m over the age of 40 (41 but will be 42 at delivery) but very healthy and active for most women at this age.

I plan to give birth in a hospital. I absolutely do not want an epidural, but IV pain meds. I want my body to naturally go into labor unless it’s an absolute emergency.

If I do tear, I want to tear naturally and absolutely do not consent to an episiotomy at any point in birth. I would like to birth in water if possible or at least be in any position I find comfortable during labor. My goal is to birth without an epidural unless i go into labor and decide I cannot bear the pain at any point. I would like to delay the cord clamping until it is white and not pulsating and want dad to be the one to cut it. Baby is to stay with me at all times and any exams or checks done in the room. No bath while at the hospital, leave the Vernix on baby for golden hour. I would like to give the okay for any and all vaccines for baby beforehand. These are just a few details but I have a very direct birth plan I would like to be followed as closely as possible.
