About me

"Most of us did not learn when we were young that our capacity to be self-loving would be shaped by the work we do and whether that work enhances our well-being." – bell hooks. This is a quote that has stuck with me as I explore my career path. Becoming a doula is something I did not follow through with until the murder of George Floyd. Seeing the striking images of pregnant Black mothers protesting around the country ignited the fire in me to finally complete my training to become a certified perinatal educator - meaning I can provide childbirth education, prenatal support, labor and delivery support, lactation support, and newborn care support. But my calling to birth work started on the day I was born with my mother being hospitalized for 2 months postpartum from an avoidable mistake during an emergency c-section. I value empathy, collaboration, and being open minded. As a doula, I am intentional about serving my clients in a way that supports self-empowerment, so they feel they have all the information they feel they need to make the best decision for them and their baby/babies. I do not shy away from vulnerability, and I believe this allows me to have relationships with my clients built on trust.

Tricia was a helpful, knowledgeable face from the very first call we had with her during my pregnancy. She provided us with great resources through the pregnancy and was amazing during the labor process. A handful of things about my labor didn’t go the way I had wanted or had planned but having her by my side meant everything to both my husband and I. We felt safe having her by our side advocating for us and making sure I remained safe through the process of everything. We highly recommend Tricia and are so thankful for her impact during the pregnancy and birth.

Tricia served as our postpartum Doula from September until the end of January. Her services included overnight stays to assist with nighttime feedings for our newborn daughter, light household work, such as laundry and bottle washing, and caring for my infant child while I was able to Sleep for a few hours. Tricia also provided advice and counseling around breast-feeding, infant sleeping, and nutrition. We always started our day with a check in on how I as the birthing parent was feeling and the plan for the day. I really appreciate Tricia’s warmth and care for my child. I always felt like my child was in good hands. It was also really important for me to have someone to talk to immediately after giving birth because the first few weeks post partum can be isolating at times. I would highly recommend working with Tricia. She is now a part of our forever village.

Tricia was my doula when I gave birth earlier this year. She was able to help me out during the labor and delivery process, talk through what was happening with both me and my husband when the induction was taking longer than expected, and help discuss options and next steps with my husband when I was resting. She helped support me through an unexpected c-section and in the recovery room. Hiring Tricia to be my doula was one of my best decisions and I would hire her again in a heartbeat if needed.

Tricia was absolutely incredible for my last pregnancy! She was right by my side at my appointments at the end. I had a planned c section due to having twins and one having complications. Tricia was there early in the morning to add more support to my day. She was absolutely incredible in the operating room while I was having a panic attack. She pulled me right out of it by distracting me by asking questions about my other 3 kids and what we all like to do together. Tricia came and visited us once my twins were home. I would absolutely recommend her. If I were to have more kids, she would be my first pick for a doula!

Let’s just say I’m truly Thankful to God for Tricia’s presence and expertise. If any questions needed to be answered, she did so. Attended appointments with me and the best part of it all was right there being an excellent motivator and support through my home birth. May God bless your journey we appreciate you so much ❤️

Tricia is a great doula to work with. She has been very helpful, encouraging and informative not only during the labor process but postpartum as well. I had complications during the birth of my baby and she eliminated my anxiety and kept me informed on everything that was taking place.
