Hello! I am just starting a search for a doula. I’m 39, this will be my first baby, brought to us by IVF. I live in Ankeny, I need to choose between delivering at Mercy West or Methodist West. I got in at Iowa Clinic so that’s where I’m going for OB. I would like to deliver vaginally, but I respect medical opinions. I just also want support to advocate for myself. I’m looking for help planning and preparing for birth. I also had a breast reduction at 18, so I am unsure whether I will be able to breastfeed and how much.

My pregnancy with my first child seven years ago was rushed and forced into a C-section. I’ve always known and felt something was wrong about the way that I had my first child but I am 16 weeks pregnant now more educated and I am looking to have a vbac , I was going the regular route by going to a ob but she has rubbed me the wrong way a few times and I want someone that is going to help me have my baby the natural way I can the first time around. I was robbed out of seeing my husband, cut the umbilical cord skin to skin and even breast-feeding. I know that I can do it and I do not want a doctor to force me to have a C-section if I do not need it just because I had one before that I did not need. I want to either be in contact with someone who can deliver my child for me or send me to providers that can support my decision. I did plan on giving birth at Northside Hospital. I do have Medicaid. I just want a natural birth that I am owed.

I am looking for a doula who can help me with a natural, unmedicated birth in a hospital setting.

1). Northside Forsyth hospital 2). Hoping to be covered by Tricare completely 3) had a completely unmedicated first birth in a hospital setting with a doula. (Labored at home till I was 10cm). Would like that experience again.

1-I planned birth at Northside Hospital in Cumming, GA 2- Not a budget in mind right now 3- Goal: Unmedicated Vaginal Birth (avoid Epidural/C-section) During Labor Pain Management: Please do not offer or discuss an epidural or other pain medication. I will request it if I feel I need it. I plan to use non-medicinal methods (e.g., movement, shower/tub, breathing). Medical Interventions: Please use intermittent fetal monitoring to allow for maximum mobility. Avoid an IV/saline lock unless medically necessary. I prefer to avoid labor-augmentation medications (like Pitocin) and allow my labor to progress on its own, unless there is a medical emergency. Delivery and Postpartum Birth of Baby: I would like to push instinctively (no coached pushing/breath-holding). I want to be in the position of my choice (e.g., standing, hands-and-knees, side-lying). Cord Clamping: I request delayed cord clamping until the umbilical cord has stopped pulsating. Immediate Postpartum: Please place the baby immediately on my chest for uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact. I request that all routine newborn procedures, like weighing and measurements, be delayed until after the first hour of skin-to-skin time. Placenta: I would like to keep my placenta. Please place it in a provided container/cooler immediately after delivery. I prefer to deliver the placenta spontaneously without Pitocin, unless medically necessary for hemorrhage prevention. Note to Staff: In the event of an unplanned C-section, I would still like the screen lowered for viewing, my partner present, and immediate skin-to-skin contact with the baby, or with my partner if I am unable.

I am interested in labor/birthing preparation. I am considering a possible home birth/water birth and would like a doula in attendance, if so. I am still working out the details of my birth plan, but know that I would like as close to a natural birth as possible (no epidural, induction, etc.).

I will be giving birth at the Wray Hospital in Colorado. I am looking for someone to support and coach me through my first minimally assisted birth. I have birthed three older children and have never felt I had the support needed. I do not have a budget in mind as I have no concept of what this could cost.
