I am a certified HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator, Body Ready Method pro, midwife assistant, and birth doula supporting families in the Maryland counties of St. Mary's, Calvert, and Charles. Working with Amelia as our HypnoBirthing companion was truly transformative! Over the course of two months in September and October, she guided my husband and me with such kindness, humor, compassion, and grounded presence that after each in-person session, it felt as though we had known her for years. From the very beginning, Amelia created a warm, safe, and engaging space that allowed me to move from extreme fear and uncertainty about pregnancy and birth to feeling calm, confident, and genuinely excited for my birthing day. My husband looked forward to every class, as Amelia gave him tangible, meaningful ways to support me during pregnancy and to be an active, empowered partner during labor. Her teachings not only brought the two of us closer, but also helped us deepen our bond with our baby and equipped us with tools we will continue to use throughout parenthood and in many parts of our personal and professional lives. Second time client of Tias! I first used Tia's services 2 years ago where I was successful with my first medicated VBAC birth. As soon as I received my positive pregnancy test with my third baby, I KNEW Tia was going to be hired again! Even my husband, who was first against hiring a doula, was quick to ask if I already contacted Tia when I announced to him our 3rd pregnancy :) Tia did it again! She was the support I knew I needed for this 3rd birth and with her encouragement and belief in me, I was able to have an unmedicated 2VBAC! According to my husband, this is our last baby haha so I wanted to take advantage of Tia's placenta print she offers. I am so happy I decided on that because Tia made us the most beautiful placenta print which incorporated all three of our children. If another baby were to magically happen for me in the future, Tia will OF COURSE be hired again, without a question! And anyone I know in need of support for their births in the future, I will without a doubt recommend Tia. Thank you TIA!!!

What is hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing is a childbirth preparation approach that uses breathing, relaxation, and visualization techniques to help parents stay calm and focused during labor.

Do I need a class, a doula, or both?

A childbirth educator teaches the techniques ahead of time, usually over several sessions. A doula trained in hypnobirthing can help you use them during labor. Some providers offer both.

When should I start hypnobirthing?

Because the techniques take practice, many parents start a course in the second or early third trimester. Ask providers when their next sessions begin.
