I am a black 22 year old who doesn’t have much experience with the birthing process. Who has support from family but they value the opinions and wants of the doctors over my wants for my first birth I am wondering if a professional doula would be in my best interest.
I would like to have a home birth if properly equipped. I will otherwise plan a hospital birth. I want as little medical intervention unless absolutely necessary. I want to move freely, have a lotus birth (or delay clamping until it turns white), if in the hospital no interventions unless asked and or requested by me or my fiance, adjusted lighting, and no cervix checks until necessary.
This is my first pregnancy so I do not have all the answers so I’m not sure what’s the best approach for anything. Thats why I am seeking help. I am based in Albany, GA. Ideally I would give birth in the hospital since the home I reside is not suitable to my standards. I am currently trying to get pregnancy medicaid to assist with payment because I am not working. I want a friendly face with trust worthy energy to assit me throughout my journey. I am 11 weeks currently.
