About me

Hello, my name is Allison Smigiel I am a registered nurse and lactation consultant. My Mama Coach private nursing practice started because I wanted to find another way to support parents as they go through the transformational process of pregnancy and parenthood. I believe in empowering women and families by providing evidence-based information, partnership, and support to help them achieve their goals. My love for Obstetrics started after I saw my first birth in nursing school; I have spent the majority of my 16 years as a nurse working in labor & maternity units, and as a lactation consultant.

Allison was such a blessing for my first pregnancy! She coached me through what to expect with labor/delivery. She shared with me her extensive knowledge which empowered me to advocate with confidence for myself during the process. I felt like I had a voice which was respectfully received by the nurses at the hospital. After delivery, Allison was an amazing resource for breast feeding. Ladies, it’s not easy!!! But with Allison’s encouragement, I did it! She had so many tips and tricks for my little one’s terrible latch, lip tie, and seemingly nonstop cluster feedings. She also helped coach me through transitioning to pumping and breast feeding when I went back to work. I can’t say enough good things about Allison! You won’t be disappointed!

Allison was my nurse for the delivery of my 3rd baby. Her knowledge base, nursing skills, patience, and kindness were what made my delivery, and care thereafter, a very pleasant experience. She was an excellent resource for me with breastfeeding and I recommend her to to all my friends who have any questions. 10/10- would definitely recommend.
