We would prefer someone who is certified in infant/child CPR and first aid and has several years of experience caring for newborns. A second language is a plus but is not required. We also have two poodles, so it is important that the person is comfortable around dogs and treats them kindly. We may occasionally need help with light household cleaning, baby laundry, and keeping the nursery and baby areas organized while caring for the baby. Overall, we are looking for someone who is caring, trustworthy, patient, responsible, respectful of our parenting decisions, and able to provide reassurance and support as we learn how to navigate being first-time parents. My mom will be staying with us for approximately the first two weeks after delivery, so ideally we’d begin once she leaves, likely in early December, with some flexibility depending on when baby arrives. We’re thinking approximately 10-hour overnight shifts and would initially like support for 4–8 weeks, with the option to extend if it’s a good fit. We’d love someone very experienced with newborns who can handle overnight diaper changes, soothing, settling baby back to sleep, bottle feeding as needed, and cleaning/sterilizing bottles and pump parts used overnight. I plan to breastfeed/pump but am comfortable supplementing with formula as needed, so experience supporting a combination of breastfeeding, pumped milk and formula would be great. We also have a 3-year-old, so reliability is especially important. Ideally looking for someone CPR/First Aid certified with excellent references and newborn experience.
