Service introduction

I have been working as a birth doula since 2012, and as a postpartum doula since 2017. I'm a DONA-certified labor doula, Lamaze-certified childbirth educator, Certified Lactation Counselor, Postpartum Doula, and Bereavement Doula. I'm DONA-certified for the use of a TENS unit in labor, a Hypnobirthing doula, and have completed specialized training in optimal fetal positioning, and trained as a homebirth midwife's assistant. I am also the former co-leader of the Northern New Jersey chapter of ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) and facilitator of a new parents group. I have four kids of my own, the first born by csection for failure to progress, and the other three in-hospital vbacs. I often say I'm not just a doula, I'm a doula customer--I've given birth both with and without a doula, and can honestly say, a doula makes a difference! My approach to labor support is "whatever works''! I will help you get the information you need to make your own decisions, and then I support you every step of the way. I have attended everything from homebirth to scheduled csection, so I am very much used to the multiple variations birth can present!

Packages
Birth Doula Services
Standard in-person birth doula services include at least two prenatal visits (in your home or virtual), one postpartum visit (in person as long as everyone is healthy), and continuous support during labor. If hired, I'm on call for your birth from the moment you submit the agreement until your baby's birth. I am always reachable and happy to offer information and support. Being on call means that I can be reached 24/7 via email/text/phone, and am prepared to meet you as soon as possible either at your home or the hospital. Once I meet with you in labor, I stay with you throughout labor and birth, and a few hours postpartum to assist with breastfeeding. In the event I cannot attend your baby's birth (due to illness or being at another birth), I arrange for a backup doula, whom you are welcome to contact prenatally as well.

Postpartum Doula
As a Postpartum Doula I can assist with pregnancy/birth recovery, breastfeeding/formula feeding, sleep issues, infant care, juggling life with a new child, and general household help (laundry, emptying dishwasher, simple meal prep, etc.). Precise tasks really vary depending on the individual family, and we usually have at least one in-person or zoom meeting ahead of time to discuss a family's needs. I require a minimum of four hours per day, 8hrs minimum at night.
