Not really sure but was told looking for a birthing doula was a good idea

I plan to give birth at the University of Iowa downtown campus. My plan is to be unmedicated with the exception of nitrous oxide. I am looking for a doula that is in my insurance network.

First pregnancy. Will be giving birth in hospital. Estimated budget of $1000-1500. Birth plan would be to stay as natural as possible, but not opposed to medical needs like an epidural if I decide I want one. Whether that be through breathing techniques, deferred sensation like a birth comb, water, etc. Want to avoid a C-section unless emergency demands it. Delayed cord clamp and immediate skin to skin as long as not an emergency. Want to try breastfeeding, and pumping, but not opposed to formula if needed.

My partner is pregnant with a little girl due June 19 - we are planning to go to Owensboro for the birth, we live in Muhlenberg County (Beechmont). My insurance requires that I give birth at Centennial Hospital. I know I don't want to labor on my back. I don't really have a birth plan yet. I'm nervous about giving birth at Centennial because I don't know anyone else who has given birth there.
