I plan to give birth in a hospital setting and will be using TRICARE Prime, which will cover the cost of doula services. My goal is to have a safe, supported delivery with access to medical care and pain-management options as needed. My birth plan focuses on a calm, low-stress, and informed birth experience. I would like support with comfort measures during labor, guidance with breathing and positioning, and assistance advocating for my preferences with the medical team when appropriate. I am open to medical pain-relief options, but would like to attempt natural coping techniques first. I also value emotional reassurance, clear communication, and postpartum support to help with recovery and the transition into parenthood.

My plan was to breastfeed for at least a year but when my baby turned 5 months he stopped latching and since then my milk supply has dropped to a point where I can only get 1oz or less. I would like to build up my supply again

I was originally planning to give birth at home but that has pivoted to the hospital now. I had an outside doula I hired at the beginning of my pregnancy but due to personal financial strain, I had to cancel her services. Therefore, I don’t have money to pay for a doula currently. I am expecting my first baby and I’ve always wanted a completely natural birth as I am aware that my body is made to birth. I am being told my baby is measuring big due to gestational diabetes and during my appointment today my OB mentioned a c-section as well as the potential of my baby’s shoulders getting stuck and the complications/risks that come with having a “big” baby. I also do not want to be induced. I want to let my body and baby do what it needs to do when it’s ready and not by force. For the sake of our health I will do things that I may not be most comfortable with if it’s absolutely needed. I don’t believe I need to be forced into an induction or a c-section because baby is big. I want to be able to walk around while in labor, sleep, eat small snacks, get into a tub of water, use a birth ball and deliver in the water or on all fours if possible. I simply want to do everything in my power to make my birthing experience a memorable moment and not a traumatic moment.

I was exclusively breastfeeding with an oversupply, I started to pump for a few minutes to relieve pressure between feeds. I have been struggling with mastitis and don’t know what else to do. My nipples are so extremely cracked, I can only pump enough to get some relief before I have to stop or I’m pouring blood. I ordered a flange kit and I’m still not sure if I measured to the right size. It’s becoming so painful that I have bought formula to help supplement at the time. I don’t want to give up breastfeeding but I can’t deal with the pain.

My husband and I currently live in Maine but are moving to Long Beach in April. we have a lot of things up in the air right now and switching OBs half way through pregnancy has me a little anxious. I dont think I will be able to build the relationship I would like with my OB / OB office in NY as much as I would like. So I would like to work with a doula before during and after birth to have some support and a familiar face during this process. This is my first pregnancy.
