I am planning to give birth at Alma Hospital and am currently looking for a supportive, knowledgeable doula to assist me through labor and delivery. My birth plan is simple and focused on having a safe, healthy delivery for both myself and my baby. I am open to guidance, education, and support throughout the process, especially in managing pain, understanding my options, and advocating for my needs during labor. I am hoping to work with a doula who is certified and experienced in hospital births. Experience with first-time or low-intervention births is a plus. A calm, supportive, and reassuring presence is very important to me. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with hospital staff are also key. There are no special requirements in terms of additional duties such as cooking, cleaning, or postpartum household support. My primary focus is labor and delivery support, along with breastfeeding and latching support. The care recipient is myself and my newborn. There are no known special needs at this time. I am planning to decide on feeding breastfeeding and bottle feeding and would appreciate a doula who can provide guidance or resources if needed. My budget is based on what my insurance will cover. My 6 week old struggles still to get a deep latch. We have managed to get to a point where it doesn’t hurt me or damage me at all but she still cannot seem to get a good seal and clicks and sucks in so much air it leaves her gassy and uncomfortable. I would like more info on having a home birth. Our budget is tight, and I’m not sure what “rates” are for home birth deliveries. I’ve always been on the fence about home births, but our current insurance (husband’s) is extremely expensive for what we can afford. Also, I am considered high risk due to my weight, but so far no concerns with the baby otherwise. This is my second pregnancy, and in the last week (around 38-39 weeks) I was diagnosed with gestational hypertension. Otherwise I had a healthy first pregnancy, and so far this pregnancy is healthy as well.

Bottle refusal after trying almost everything I’ve been told.

I'm on day 9 of breastfeeding and I'd like someone to meet in person to look at Baby's latch, position, milk transfer, etc. My nipples are pretty sore and I'm having a hard time sticking with it.

I’ve had 3 miscarriages in the last 5 years. My fourth pregnancy, 2 years ago was a healthy, full term baby who is now 2 and doing amazing with no complications during my pregnancy or my delivery. I’m now 21 weeks pregnant with my second son and my experience with UPMC has been nothing but stressful and uninformative. My charts have yet to be corrected for the last 2- 3 months I’ve been going to them. I’m at the point where I don’t feel like my doctors are listening or caring about my wishes/concerns. I am starting to lean towards a home birth with minimal intervention. With my son I got to 9 1/2 cm dilated before I got my epidural last minute and had no issues or barely any discomfort with my contractions. This one is a bit more uncomfortable and I would like to try to do the same as before but without medicine. I have no issue going to a birthing center if need be, I know the travel home with my last hurt me a lot so I was hoping to minimize the distance of travel for my second time around. I also had issues with my son latching for breastfeeding and went to see a lactation consultant twice but she took over an hour to come see us each time which resulted in my son screaming of hunger so I would end up bottle feeding him before she’d come as she took too long and then refused to help us when she heard he was bottle fed so I would like to learn more about breastfeeding if possible either through classes or having someone help me after birth. Our budget is probably $2500-4000. I’m not sure what my insurance covers but would love to look into it more with someone if we can. I’m at the point where I don’t trust my current providers, as too much has gone wrong or missed and I just want to cancel all appointments until I give birth so I’m hoping this is a better alternative for me.
