Looking for tips and help with breastfeeding as a first time mom. My baby latched great at the hospital and now that we are home she will scream anytime I offer my boob to her. She takes a bottle great and I have been pumping about 2 oz total every 3 hours and feeding it to her. She is 4 days old now. I plan to combo feed but would like to breastfeed while I am home and not working. |

Shanci is looking for Midwife, Birth Doula, Lactation Consultant

Location: Dalmatia, PA 17017, USA
Due date or baby's birthday: March 27, 2026
I’ve had 3 miscarriages in the last 5 years. My fourth pregnancy, 2 years ago was a healthy, full term baby who is now 2 and doing amazing with no complications during my pregnancy or my delivery. I’m now 21 weeks pregnant with my second son and my experience with UPMC has been nothing but stressful and uninformative. My charts have yet to be corrected for the last 2- 3 months I’ve been going to them. I’m at the point where I don’t feel like my doctors are listening or caring about my wishes/concerns. I am starting to lean towards a home birth with minimal intervention. With my son I got to 9 1/2 cm dilated before I got my epidural last minute and had no issues or barely any discomfort with my contractions. This one is a bit more uncomfortable and I would like to try to do the same as before but without medicine. I have no issue going to a birthing center if need be, I know the travel home with my last hurt me a lot so I was hoping to minimize the distance of travel for my second time around. I also had issues with my son latching for breastfeeding and went to see a lactation consultant twice but she took over an hour to come see us each time which resulted in my son screaming of hunger so I would end up bottle feeding him before she’d come as she took too long and then refused to help us when she heard he was bottle fed so I would like to learn more about breastfeeding if possible either through classes or having someone help me after birth. Our budget is probably $2500-4000. I’m not sure what my insurance covers but would love to look into it more with someone if we can. I’m at the point where I don’t trust my current providers, as too much has gone wrong or missed and I just want to cancel all appointments until I give birth so I’m hoping this is a better alternative for me. |

Location: Grand Rapids, MI 49507, USA
Due date or baby's birthday: December 31, 2025
Hello, My name is Kiley, and I’m reaching out to see if I can schedule a lactation consultation at your earliest convenience. We’re looking for some support with breastfeeding and would really appreciate your guidance. Specifically, I’m hoping to get help with: • Improving latch and positioning • Encouraging effective latching without a nipple shield (we’re currently using a shield on the left side and would love help weaning off of it) • Making sure our baby is getting optimal milk during feeds and gaining weight appropriately • Guidance on pumping and how to do that effectively in tandem with breastfeeding Overall, we’re looking for some foundational breastfeeding support to make sure we’re on the right track and to build confidence moving forward. |

Rachel is looking for Postpartum Doula, Birth Doula, Lactation Consultant
|
Location: Sparta, MI 49345, USA
Due date or baby's birthday: September 28, 2026
Planning to give birth to my third baby at trinity health muskegon. Would like birth support for extra advocacy, postpartum support as I'm a graduate student, and need lactation support as I had failed exclusively breast feeding with my first two despite wanting to breast feed. I'm currently unsure of budget. I go with the flow in terms of birth. I had epidurals the first two times but would prefer not to. I'm not opposed to an epidural but would prefer to give birth pain medication free. I want my baby to receive vitamin k, b, and erythromycin, I want the baby to stay in the room with me at all times unless medically necessary, and want the cord delayed clamping until the cord is white. Currently working through making my birth plan and adding things as I decide upon them. Thank you for reading. |

Reagan is looking for Midwife, Birth Doula, Lactation Consultant
|
Location: Lima, OH 45805, USA
Due date or baby's birthday: June 30, 2026
I am interested in a midwife/dual with a holistic approach. That will help me to achieve a safe and unmediated birth. I have had o e prior child as a vaginal birth, I labored for over 24hrs, did end up with an epidural at 9.5cm (I did not want one), had a 2nd sac of water, and did have a tear. I did not want to push on my back and made that clear, it didn’t change anything, I asked for delayed cord clamping, it did not change anything. I did not have a lot of the things I wanted met. |

I am looking for a midwife or even 2, an doula possibly, and a lactation consultant to guide me through all of the specifics of a home birth and what it all entails! I want to do a home birth (we live in an apartment as well) so bad, but am also nervous of the risks it might come with. My husband and I live 5 minutes from a University of Michigan hospital, and I have an OB. My pregnancy has gone as perfect as it can, and baby is completely healthy and has absolutely no issues! I’m hoping to at least talk to a midwife at first to decide for sure that a home birth is right for me and my baby girl! If my husband and I decide it is for sure what we want then I want to move forward in doing a home birth with a midwife and maybe even a doula?… my husband is completely on board with the home birth idea as well and is super supportive of any route I choose to go! I want to make my dream home birth happen! So I don’t know the price range of what we want to be in, but if our insurance helps us out which I think it should, we can be pretty flexible! I’m not completely sure what the price range is for a midwife and doula either, but I’m definitely going to do some research and see what a reasonable budget is! I’m hoping to find someone patient, takes their time (doesn’t rush the delivery unless medically needed), is soft spoken when needed, and is bubbly and positive! My husband and I are Christians as well, but either way it isn’t a make or break type of thing! I’m flexible with that type of thing! My birth plan is obviously I want to do a home birth if I possibly can, I want to go unmedicated, I want the lights to be on, but dimmed and at my place the lighting is perfect for the amount of light I want to have, I want/need a calm and peaceful environment because I can get stressed easily if the environment is chaotic and rushed, I want to maybe have music playing in the background just to have a peaceful labor, I want to move around as much as possible while laboring, I am very open to cervical checks to see how much I’m dilated as well as checking baby girl’s heart rate on a Doppler, I love encouragement and talking (any sort of fun or easy going conversations is such a great way to help me get through contractions), if i can have pictures and videos taken here and there I would love to get some taken to remember those moments, I’m not exactly sure what position I want to give birth in but I’m thinking on my back on my own bed like normal or sitting up a bit on my bed as well, and I would love to have my husband cut the cord and be as involved as possible in the birth of he wants to be! This birth plan is long and specific, but if it doesn’t go exactly to plan I’m flexible as long as we are both healthy! I’m also not sure if it’s still possible being in an apartment but I really hope it can be! The walls are pretty sound proof:) I am so excited for this journey and I am looking forward to hopefully making my dream home birth a reality! |

Hi, I’m looking for some help with breastfeeding. I have a 1-month-old and I’m struggling with low milk supply, so I’ve had to supplement with formula due to slow weight gain. My doctor recommended I pause direct nursing and focus on pumping to better track my supply. I’m usually getting around 2 oz total per session, but often less than 1 oz, while my baby is needing about 3 oz per feeding. She also suggested I see a lactation consultant to evaluate my baby’s latch. She had a good latch during the first few weeks, but lately she’s been very frustrated at the breast. Her latch now seems shallow and “lazy.” I’ve tried different holds and techniques to help her latch deeper, but she either cries and won’t stay latched, or latches only briefly while pulling her head back and biting down, which is causing me pain. |
