Hospital birth, first time moms, LGBTQ+ family, 39 years old, unsure of budget as just starting out, ideal birth plan is vaginal birth without epidural (and tearing) but I’m very interested in nitros as pain management. I have TRICARE West Prime and am hoping to find a doula who accepts TRICARE and is familiar with the authorization process. I’m also hoping to work with a Christian doula whose support aligns with our faith and values. I’m looking for calm, encouraging labor support and would love to connect to see if we’d be a good fit. This is my first baby. My family lives in California and I live in Long Beach. So I’m in need of learning the do’s and don’ts of childbirth and afterbirth care. Also prepping my body for delivery. Ideally I would like to have a water birth because it seems safer for the baby and I. By research I’ve seen most doula’s cost $25 an hour. I do have insurance and I’m hoping that can help with the finances.

As a first time Mom with no experience in births or hospitals or babies, the idea of having someone who knows what is happening and what is going to happen sounds like a comfort. I also like the idea of having someone come into my home with a new baby to provide suggestions on breastfeeding, sleep schedules, etc.
