 I am currently looking for a birth doula for my first pregnancy. This is my first baby, and my due date is April 22, 2026. I feel scared and nervous when I think about labour and birth. I am planning to have a vaginal birth and have some concerns about tearing. I am also hoping for a calm and peaceful birthing environment, as I tend to feel anxious in busy settings, such as rooms with frequent interruptions or medical students present. I am looking for a doula who can advocate for me and my baby and help me feel supported and informed throughout the process. I also wanted to ask whether your doulas are certified through a recognized organization, or if you are registered as a paramedical practitioner in British Columbia (such as a Naturopathic Doctor or Social Worker). I have extended health benefits through Pacific Blue Cross and would be using those benefits. Ideally, I am looking for someone who can submit claims under their registration or provide an official receipt that includes their registration number for reimbursement purposes. Spouse wants to give birth at home. I dont have a budget yet since we have tricare that could help. We also dont have a plan yet.

Giving birth at St. Michael Women and Children's hospital in Silverdale. I plan to use Tricare, but am also willing to pay partially out of pocket. My birth plan is pretty flexible, with a few hard stops. Some of these include skin to skin after birth, otherwise my partner will do it. Physiologic cord clamping, only breastfeeding in the hospital, and delay newborn procedures during golden hour if possible.
