About Chelsea

Hi! I’m Chelsea, the owner of The Nestled Nook, and I’m a DONA trained postpartum doula with 4 years of experience supporting new families through the transition into parenthood. My passion for postpartum care comes from my own experience becoming a mother and realizing just how much support, reassurance, and education families need during those early days and nights. I believe parents deserve to feel confident and empowered in their choices, not overwhelmed by endless advice from Reddit or social media influencer expectations. Before becoming a postpartum doula, I spent 13 years working as a high-profile nanny, became a certified Montessori preschool teacher, and worked as an estate manager. I also had the opportunity to volunteer in a NICU alongside nurses when I was 18, an experience that sparked my love for newborn care and taught me so much about caring for tiny babies. My work centers around overnight postpartum support, helping families get some much-needed rest while caring for their baby. My goal is to make those early weeks feel a little easier and help you feel confident in your new role. I always say, “I’m here to give you the sleep you need to be the best version of yourself for your baby.” Outside of work, I live on a mini farm just outside of Nashville, with my husband, two children, two pigs, two dogs, and lots of chickens. I love spending time with my family, visiting amusement parks, doing a good puzzle, and crafting. If you are reading this, yes you, I'd love to get to know you and your family and be a special part of this journey together.

Chelsea is amazing as a night nurse. We were lucky to find her and utilize her services for 4 months. She has a super bright personality and amazing presence with the baby that totally put us at ease as parents. She has a deep love for babies and truly enjoys her work. Chelsea became part of family as our time with her progressed. Always on time, professional, sweet and caring. I would highly recommend Chelsea for any night nurse needs.

Words cannot describe what a Godsend Chelsea was to me and my family. We brought home a premature infant who could not regulate his body temperature. As frightening as that was, just a few weeks later, our other son (we have four boys) was diagnosed with severe brain inflammation. The days were longer than I ever knew possible. Without Chelsea’s loving arms, steady support, dependability, fierce hugs, and willingness to help with countless things I simply didn’t have the time or capacity to manage, I’m not sure how I would have made it through. When Chelsea was caring for my newborn, I slept deeply for the first time in months. I kept her with him for more than six months because her presence gave me the strength to care for both him and our older son during the day. She brought peace into the middle of chaos, comfort into fear, and strength when I had very little left to give. She is truly an angel on earth, and our family will always be grateful for the love and care she gave us during one of the hardest seasons of our lives.

We were first time parents and had hit our limit with the sleep deprivation. Having no family or any other help around, we looked into night care for our then 2 month old. During our initial zoom meet and greet, I found that she was just super personable, down to earth and we related on a handful of things. She showed empathy and understanding with our current situation, which brought me comfort knowing that she understood, as a mom herself, and she would truly care for our baby and cater to his needs. it was an easy decision to hire Chelsea after the zoom call! I was so nervous that our son would freak out being with someone he didn't know, that he'd cry whenever he was picked up or given a bottle, and not having him sleep in the same room with us for the first time made me so nervous and guilty. But Chelsea was awesome.. she said he didn't cry at all which was a huge relief. My husband and I were able to get the sleep we needed, while Chelsea cared for our little guy and in the morning delivered a thorough and detailed run down of how the night went. We would definitely reach out to her again for any future needs!

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer breastfeeding support?

Absolutely - I breastfed both of my children and am trained in the breastfeeding basics from DONA International. My help involves anything from positioning and latch guidance to feeding cues and pumping. I enjoy helping you understand what’s working well and where adjustments may help. We’ll take feeding one day at a time, without pressure, and adapt as your needs change. Also, fed is best. If formula becomes part of your feeding plan, we will embrace that too. I also have a few recommendations for IBCLC's in the Nashville area.

What do you love most about being a Postpartum Doula?

I have truly found my calling in life. There is nothing better than seeing the confidence that parents gain after just 3–4 weeks with their baby. On day one, they’re often picking up their newborn like they’re made of fine glass in a china shop, carefully supporting every little part and afraid to move too quickly. By the end of week four, they’re slinging baby over their shoulder and giving firm pats on the back to get a good burp out. Watching that transformation from “Am I doing this right?” to “I’ve got this” is one of my favorite parts of what I do.

I have a question that isn't listed - can I message you directly?

Absolutely! A lot of the more detailed questions I get are usually answered during our initial call, where we get to know each other and talk through your needs. Once you decide to move forward and your contract is signed, I’ll meet you in your home and we’ll have plenty of time to go over any additional questions you may have. We’ll also talk through scheduling and what to expect once support begins. And of course, if you ever have something on your mind, feel free to message me directly. I’m always happy to chat!

Why don't you have a website or any social media accounts?

To be completely honest, the majority of my work comes through word-of-mouth, so I haven’t really needed to have a big online presence. I do have business cards for those times when I’m out and about and happen to meet someone who could use my services. I guess I’m a bit of an old soul. I still love that personal, word-of-mouth way of connecting with people.

I see that you live in Ashland City. Do you commute into Nashville or the surrounding areas?

I would say that about 95% of my clients are, at minimum, a 35–40 minute drive from me. My usual areas that I cover consist of the little towns in and around Nashville, Brentwood, Franklin (rare), Clarksville (also rare), and Hendersonville (rare too). For me, it's not a problem at all. It gives me some uninterrupted time to listen to audiobooks instead of the latest and greatest Disney movie soundtrack. *enter laughing emoji* We moved here from Los Angeles, so we’re pretty accustomed to a serious commute. Nashville traffic is child’s play!

Do you provide sleep training?

Yes! If a family is interested in learning my approach to sleep training, I’m happy to guide them through the process. I always make sure your pediatrician is on board before we begin. Once we have the go-ahead, we’ll create a plan that combines your parenting philosophy and goals with my experience and techniques.

What do you do as an overnight postpartum Doula?

An overnight postpartum doula provides support so parents can get the rest they need while knowing their baby is well cared for. I help with feeding, diapering, soothing, breastfeeding and pumping support, and newborn care. I’m also happy to help with a light load of laundry, wash bottles and pump parts, and take care of a few small tasks to make your morning easier.

Do you have references you could provide?

Yes! I have many clients who would be happy to chat with you.

What if I don't know how many nights I'll need?

New parents often don’t know exactly how many nights of help they’ll need, and that’s completely okay. Every family is different. Some parents return to work sooner, some know they don’t function well without a full night of sleep, and others have older children who still need their attention. I’ll help you determine a reasonable starting plan based on your family’s needs, and we can always adjust if my availability allows.

What type of hours do you work?

I always work 10-hour shifts, and I’ll tell you why. By the time I get a report on your baby, you shower, get ready for bed, and settle in for the night, about an hour has usually passed. In the morning, I’ll give you a report before I leave. This allows you to get a full 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep while I’m there to care for your baby.

Do you sleep when my baby sleeps?

Yes, well, sort of. If the baby is sleeping, I usually “rest.” Most of the time, I don’t fall into a deep sleep because my mama brain knows I’m caring for a little one, and it’s also hard to fully sleep when I’m not in my own bed. These little periods of rest help me recharge between feedings and make sure I’m alert and able to safely drive home in the morning.

Do you work with multiples?

Yes. I have had a few clients with twins. Once I get into a routine with them, it's very manageable.

How far in advance should I book you?

I am typically booked out 4-5 months in advance. Please reach out as soon as you can!

Will you support how we choose to feed our baby?

100%. One of the things I love most about being a postpartum doula is meeting parents where they are. I’m here to offer education and evidence-based information so you can make decisions that feel right for your family. Whatever you decide, I’m your judgment-free sidekick. Circumcision? Cool! Intact? Cool! Hate sleep training? Cool! Love sleep training? Cool! Dislike vaccines? Cool! Must have vaccines? Cool! I am here for you and what you feel is important.
