Last labor my eldest (now 17) supported through labor with Mom and husband; this time they'd be supporting toddler if temperamentally appropriate at that time. So far, so good! Seeking doula care for postpartum support with light housecleaning, healthy meal prep for mama expecting to EBF, and supporting with toddler snacks/meals occasionally. With the birth of my son I found the best support was having consistent nutritive food nearby to sustain my energy and navigate early weeks. I was able to wear my newborn and cook for myself but would love to have recipes I can share and have prepped/someone more knowledgeable suggest best nutrition for recovery so we can bond with newborn. Expecting 4-20 hrs a week for up to two months with possible support holding newborn so I can stay connected to toddler through early transition period. Expect him to be willing and eager to continue helping as able and appropriate, so hoping to have someone who can put my nutritional needs first to support me showing up for the babies. Even with second degree tearing through this last birth I was able to walk up to two miles postpartum within six weeks so I anticipate getting back to some level of activity to support my recovery. Want to be able to rely on healthy snacks and good nutrition to support my postpartum recovery after my husband's paternity leave ends. Expecting to have mother in home to support with toddler care and take care of her own meals, but learned last time around she struggled with helping in ways that I really needed as related to staying hydrated and fed through the first few weeks. Need an advocate who will keep me on a routine to stay nourished to show up how I want.

I’m planning on delivering in a hospital. Unsure of my budget at the moment. My birth plan is generally relaxed I think. I want to labor naturally (no pitocin until after delivery), epidural is a must, I want to move around while laboring, delayed cord clamping, and immediate skin to skin with baby.

Hello! I am just starting a search for a doula. I’m 39, this will be my first baby, brought to us by IVF. I live in Ankeny, I need to choose between delivering at Mercy West or Methodist West. I got in at Iowa Clinic so that’s where I’m going for OB. I would like to deliver vaginally, but I respect medical opinions. I just also want support to advocate for myself. I’m looking for help planning and preparing for birth. I also had a breast reduction at 18, so I am unsure whether I will be able to breastfeed and how much.

I’d love a natural vaginal birth in a birthing center (not home but not hospital either). Ideally minimal tearing/intervention.

I've always wanted to have my babies naturally with little to no pain medication, IV or laughing gas would be as far as I would go. I do not want to labor or give birth in a hospital unless I have no other choice, if things take a turn I have a doctor at Mercy hospital. Our estimated budget would probably be 1.5k-2.k overall. We're a young couple starting out in a new town, we're starting to get back on our feet and we were not expecting to have a little one so soon. I want a water birth with low lighting, calming music and an aroma im familiar with, one doula and at least one to two midwives, my husband will be there and as for extras that is yet to be decided. I would also like either a foam mat low to the ground or a bed to get on if we need a change from the pool/tub. Yoga balls and all the fixings.
