I would like to use the birthing tub and plan to have a water birth if I remain an appropriate candidate. Before entering the tub, I want freedom of movement and access to a birthing ball. I want to follow my body’s cues for positioning, including side-lying, hands-and-knees, swaying, standing, or other positions that feel natural. I would like to drink fluids during labor when medically appropriate. No routine IV unless medically necessary. Wireless monitoring is strongly preferred when fetal monitoring is necessary and available. I want to allow my body to birth [name hidden] naturally and push according to my body’s instincts and coaching from my doula. Immediate chest-to-chest skin-to-skin. Uninterrupted bonding time for as long as we are comfortable. Allow [name hidden] the opportunity to self-latch and initiate breastfeeding while chest-to-chest. Delay routine weighing, measurements, medications, and other nonurgent newborn care until after our bonding time. Delayed cord clamping until the cord has stopped pulsating and appears white, when medically appropriate. My goal is exclusive breastfeeding. Requirements would be that they are certified and covered by Tricare. My insurance is Tricare West Region. TRICARE covers up to six hours of visits by a certified labor doula. These hours can be split into 15-minute increments any way you’d like. You also get one untimed visit during birth.
