Dena Gold

About me

Dena is an acupuncturist, herbalist, massage therapist, and doula based in New York City, and has been working in holistic health since 2012. She has experience working with people through their whole conception and parenting journey - those trying to conceive, through their pregnancies, at their births, and through the postpartum period. Before this she worked in childcare for nine years in multiple settings across all ages. She has diverse experience including infants, autism, twins, and behavior challenges. In terms of birth, her priority is to let each person guide their own experience, while offering them the information they need to make informed decisions and to help them navigate some of the complexity of the medical system. It is important to her that clients are given the ability to lead their birth experience and that they feel empowered to hold fast to their plan or change it, based on what feels right to them in the moment. As a massage therapist hands on support is natural for her. She also has some experience with hypnobirthing and spinning babies, but does not force modalities if these don't match a clients vision. With postpartum her goal is to help parents navigate the complexity and intensity of the postpartum period. To help them get the rest they need, to help them navigate the complexities of breast and/or bottle feeding, to figure out what the baby's needs are, etc. She tries to follow the parents' philosophy while helping them find information/practitioners that might help support them further.
