Throughout our prenatal visits, Abby made an effort to build a genuine, trusting connection with us and she helped us prepare a written copy of our birth preferences. During labor, Abby stuck by our side through a long labor and worked with the nurses and midwives to help us have the birth we hoped for. She helped us use a variety of coping tactics (that my husband and I would have never known existed) to help me work through the labor process. During postpartum, she was there for us and provided us with the supports we needed. During one of our prenatal visits, Abby asked me if I could name a few words to describe what I hoped for in my birth. The main word that came to mind was “empowered”. Thanks to her, even with many twists and turns that happened during my labor, my birth was just that: empowering. I cannot imagine my labor without her!
