I am planning to give birth at the hospital but am looking for support at home before and for someone to act as a gatekeeper to our birth plan and my peace during labour at the hospital. Main reason for services is postpartum, my partner will not qualify for paternity leave so am going to need help.

This will be my third baby. I had my first via cesarean and my second cancer both in hospital. This time I would like to do a home birth because I really want to have a more intimate birth experience. I currently have no known complications. I’m not sure how much a doula generally costs, so I would say my budget is around $1500, but I’m open to hearing prices as I am not familiar with this process.

My hopes are to be able to change positions, use birth ball, distractions and possibly hypno birthing techniques to stay as calm and comfortable for everyone during this process. I am ever excited about my first birth and am visualizing a magical experience. We plan to deliver at Collingwood hospital. We live in cookstown, it’s an hour and 25mins away. My in-laws live near by the hospital in Wasaga beach. We have discussed staying with them as it gets closer to go time. Best case scenario is going through early labour in the comfort of a home environment until it’s time to go to the hospital.
