I plan to give birth at a hospital. I would like to find a Doula who is in network with TRICARE. I would like to labor as long as possible at home before going to the hospital and then wait or avoid medication. I am open to an epidural and pain meds however, if my body is telling me, I need them.

I’m wanting as close to a physiological birth as possible I understand issues might arise that make this impossible but I need to find a comfortable safe place to give birth and hospitals make me uncomfortable. I plan to give birth at U of L in downtown Louisville. Since it is fully out of pocket, I am hoping to spend less than 1500$ This will be my first child, I am due in late July. I am wanting to go as natural as possible, but since I really have no idea what to expect as far as what my body will feel, I want to be open to doing what I feel I need at the time. I very much want to naturally go into labor rather than having to use Pit to induce. My wife will be with me, but I would love to have someone there that is focusing solely on being my advocate and making the experience as smooth as possible. I would ideally love to not have an epidural, but I also want to prepare to give myself grace in the moment if I decide to change my mind.

I’m thinking of trying a home birth this time around. I don’t know about a budget maybe until I see an estimate, but nothing expensive we’re a one income household.
