We’re hoping for support in preparing thoughtful and flexible birth preferences ahead of time, comfort and education throughout labor/birth, helping to hold our birth plan with the medical team during labor/birth, and guiding us through the unpredictability of labor so we can stay present with eachother/body/baby and make informed decisions as they come. Also curious about your openness to capture photo/video during birth. I am looking for a doula that can support me during birth and postpartum. I am located in Alameda and will likely be giving birth at the San Leandro Kaiser or Oakland Kaiser if I find the right doula. A little about us: we’re a French/German-American couple in our 30s, and this is our first baby. I tend to be thoughtful and preparation-oriented, and I’m looking for someone calm, grounded, emotionally attuned, and experienced supporting first-time parents. My hope is for a supportive and relatively low-intervention birth experience if medically appropriate, while staying flexible and pragmatic (not too attached to anything). We are expecting our first baby in San Francisco and are looking for affordable postpartum doula support after birth. We would like someone certified through DONA, ICEA, NHA, CAPPA, or another organization accepted by UnitedHealthcare/Apple benefits, and we need the provider to be able to provide proof of certification and itemized receipts for reimbursement. We are primarily looking for daytime postpartum support, with possible occasional overnight help if affordable. We would like help with newborn care, feeding/lactation support, postpartum recovery support for the mother, soothing/sleep guidance, and general coaching for first-time parents. Helpful additional duties would include light baby-related laundry, bottle/pump-part cleaning, simple meal/snack prep, and light tidying related to baby care. We are not looking for heavy house cleaning. Our goal is to stay within the Apple/UHC doula reimbursement benefit, which appears to cover up to $2,500 per pregnancy. Ideally we are looking for someone around $45–$65/hour, with package pricing or sliding scale if available.
