I plan to give birth at Scripps Encinitas. From my understanding, tricare select covers labor doulas, so I am not entirely sure. I am very against medical interventions in labor. (No pitocin, epidural, episiotomy, etc.) I am looking for someone who is going to medically advocate for me to allow myself to be present in labor and not feel like I am having to fight off people trying to intervene when unnecessary. I have Tricare West Select.

My goal is a low intervention VBAC. Open to either home or hospital—but I am leaning towards laboring at home for as long as I can before giving birth at a hospital. I am in search of a Midwife or Monitrice (LM or CPM perhaps?) who can help me labor safely at home (provide fetal monitoring, look for signs of rupture, preform cervical exams if necessary.) With my first birth my pain wasn’t taken seriously and I felt unheard, so I want someone who can advocate for me and help communicate my needs.
