Deborah was an incredible support during the newborn phase with my twins. She brought calm, expertise, and so much care into our home. She helped us with routines, feeding, and soothing, and made sure I could rest and recover. Truly patient, professional, and wonderful with babies — I’m so grateful for her and highly recommend her to any family, especially twin parents. we occasionally still use her services even 4 years later

Greetings, I’m Theodora! I’m a first generation Ghanaian-American postpartum doula serving families in Washington, DC and parts of Northern Virginia. I trained as a full-spectrum doula and started my doula practice in Brooklyn, NYC in 2018. Since then I have supported birthing and postpartum women, people, and their families on their journeys in Richmond, Virginia and now in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. My doula practice is also shaped by my West African background. I come from a big Ghanaian family and diaspora community, where community care is how we care for each other through life’s transitions, especially birth and postpartum. I provide culturally-rooted and affirming postpartum education, support, and nourishing services and products to birthing and postpartum people. I have several postpartum packages I offer, so that you can find the right fit for you and your family. A portion of all my services and products supports black and brown and immigrant women/birthing people and their families across the spectrum of their reproductive needs to have safe, dignified, and loving reproductive experiences. Hi! I’m Kate. A mama of 3 and a birth doula! I’m from Baltimore MD and work with families doing hospital or home birth!

Recent review

I had the pleasure of working with Kate and her mother Margie during the labor and delivery of my daughter. Kate was my Doula and her mother was my birth photographer. They make one amazing duo! I had planned on a home water birth and unfortunately after 30 hours of unmedicated labor at home it turned into a hospital transfer and then an emergency cesarian surgery. Kate and her mother stayed in contact with me throughout the day when I knew I was in early labor and then got to my home promptly after she received the call that things were quickly progressing. Kate was so knowledgeable on different comfort measures for me during my labor. She was compassionate and extremely supportive during the whole entire experience! She even sent me a lot of information prior to my daughters arrival regarding helpful tips, body positioning and things I could do prior to early labor and through out to help me during every stage. Her mother is so kind, empathetic and takes beautiful pictures! I will cherish the moments she captured for our family forever. Margie even came to the hospital with us and stayed at the hospital not knowing if she would or would not be able to come back in to our room in order to take pictures after my surgery. I could not recommend hiring them more! Thank you both so much for being a part of my birth journey! XX- Alisha Rutherford

Hello Everyone: I am Maxine, a Newborn Care Specialist. I come with many years of experience developing new borns and toddlers. I m a former day care provider. I have always enjoyed caring for babies and toddlers, and supporting families through those first precious months of life, brings me great fulfillment. My background combines hands-on experience with a deep understanding of infant development, sleep routines, and family adjustment during the early stages of parenthood. I believe a calm and organized environment helps both baby and parents thrive. My approach focuses on creating a safe, nurturing, and predictable routine that allows everyone to rest and feel confident. I also make it a priority to provide reassurance and education, helping parents feel supported and informed every step of the way. In my free time, I enjoy spending quiet mornings with a good cup of coffee, visiting local parks, and finding new ways to make life easier for families during the newborn stage.

Maxine has a natural gift for caring for babies and toddlers, and her genuine passion is evident in everything she does. As a first-time parent, I cannot express how grateful our family is for Maxine. From the moment she walked into our home, she brought a calm, reassuring presence that immediately put us at ease. Those early weeks can feel overwhelming, but Maxine guided us through every step with patience, expertise, and genuine care. She has an incredible understanding of newborns - their needs, their cues, and their rhythms. Within days, she helped us establish a predictable routine that made an enormous difference in our baby's sleep and overall comfort. She took the time to explain what she was doing and why, which gave us so much confidence as new parents. We cannot recommend Maxine enough. Any family would be lucky to have her.

My name is Traequanda Brock and my interest in birth and postpartum doula work came about during my graduate studies in the social work program. I have been in the social work field since 2011 and graduated from Howard University with my Master of Social Work degree. I have always been passionate about equity, especially for those who are marginalized. I learned of the disparity among black women/black birthing persons and the rate at which they weren’t surviving due to birth related complications, that are completely preventable when given the right care. As I learned the huge impact doulas could have on the life of black women/black birthing persons, I knew where my calling was leading me. I am trained through the National Black Doula Association as a birth and postpartum doula. I know that my purpose is to be of service to others and that so happens to be in this field. My interest is for birthing persons to get back in touch with their bodies and all that it can do. This looks like, trusting yourselves and tapping into your intuition, nurturing your mind, body, and soul; with the nutrients you feed it, exercise, meditation, ancestral traditions; as well as leaning on your supports through this beautiful experience.

Traequanda was my doula. She was excellent from beginning to end. She kept my partner and I well informed, was intentional, and patient. Traequanda is a gem.

Before starting Parenting Couture, I spent over 15 years as a Postpartum and Pediatric nurse for Inova Fairfax and a local pediatrician supporting families through every stage of parenting; from birth to the teenage years. I found there wasn’t only a need but a high demand for services to help navigate the many challenges and unknowns that come with parenting. As a mom of four boys, I understand the many aspects of parenthood, and more importantly, I know parenting isn’t a one-size-fits-all. Each service is custom-tailored to fit your individual parenting style and needs.

Greetings, everyone! I'm Bonney Burton, a birth doula, childbirth educator, and breastfeeding consultant trained by DONA International. My educational background has equipped me with innovative teaching methods, enabling me to educate new families about the birthing process in creative ways. Drawing from my experience as an elementary teacher, I approach every situation with calmness and patience. My guiding philosophy revolves around empowering and educating birthing families, fostering confidence in navigating the stages before, during, and after birth. I firmly believe that this empowerment contributes to positive birthing outcomes for all my clients. While I'm currently based in the NCR, I am open to travel as needed. As an active duty service member's spouse, affectionately known as "B," I am blessed with three delightful children who bring immense joy to our lives. Witnessing my kids engage in sports is a cherished aspect of parenthood for me. During my leisure time, I indulge in reading, savoring nature, especially at the beach, and relishing good food. I am excited about the prospect of collaborating with you on your birthing journey.

If this platforme allowed me to give Bonney 100 stars, I’d do it instantly 🤍 Her professionalism and personalism are incredible, she instantly calms a room when she enters it and is so incredibly thoughtful. We met multiple times before the birth and each visiting felt more and more like I had someone who would advocate for everything I wanted. As a type A person it’s hard to trust others with important things but there was no hesitation in trusting Bonney. As an Active Duty member, I loved that she understood the military, as she is a military spouse, and I loved that she has access to the military base Fort Belvior! It made the day I gave birth so seamless! I truly cannot recommend her enough. If your reading through other doula and trying to figure out if she is the one for you, consider this your sign 🤍 you will be loved beyond measure and taken care of with so much kindness, empathy and grace. She truly made the birth of our second baby boy so peaceful and was an enormous help to my husband as well 🤍

I am in the process of certifying as a full-spectrum doula through Doula Trainings International. After ten years as a high school teacher in Washington, DC, I am excited for a change. After witnessing a friend's birth and tending to a loved one in the hospital, I realized that doula work was calling to me. The skills (patience, calmness, humor) I learned as a teacher support me as a doula, and allow me to support you through birth and early parenthood.

I utilized Jordan’s services for three months after my baby was born. She started working the first week of her life up until she was roughly three months old to assist with nighttime feeding, diaper changes, bath time, and general nursery organization. Jordan was very punctual, had great communication skills, and she provided excellent care for my baby girl.
