I’m a first-time mom expecting a baby girl in early February 2027, and I’m looking for an experienced, certified birth doula who is warm, patient, reassuring, and knowledgeable. I would love someone who has several years of experience supporting first-time mothers and who is comfortable helping me understand my options throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. I’m looking for someone who can provide both emotional and practical support, help me prepare for labor, explain what to expect, help me advocate for my preferences, and provide calming guidance during labor and during postpartum. It’s also important to me that my partner is included and supported throughout the process, so I’d love a doula who can help him feel confident and involved as well. I don’t currently have any special-care needs, but as a first-time mom I value having someone experienced who I can ask questions and who can help me feel prepared rather than overwhelmed. I’m primarily looking support in postpartum services, particularly newborn care, breastfeeding/feeding support, sleep guidance, and help adjusting during the first few weeks. My budget is flexible depending on the doula’s experience, certifications, services included, and level of prenatal/postpartum support. I’m planning on giving birth at a hospital. This is my first pregnancy so I am a bit confused and unsure where to start.

We are in Long Island City and are looking for a practical, evidence-based postpartum professional for recurring overnight newborn support, ideally around 10 p.m.–8 a.m. or another 10-hour window, beginning shortly after birth and continuing for roughly 4–8 weeks. We are looking for hands-on newborn care, feeding/pump/bottle support, soothing, diapering, safe-sleep knowledge, and clear handoff notes in the morning. We also strongly prefer someone comfortable with baby laundry, washing bottles and pump parts, light tidying/kitchen reset, simple meal prep, and keeping baby supplies organized. Could you share: (1) your availability around our due date; (2) the maximum recurring overnights you can commit to each week; (3) whether you remain awake while the baby sleeps or rest during quiet periods; (4) exactly which household tasks you handle; (5) certifications, CPR/first-aid status, vaccinations, background-check process, and references; and (6) your rate, minimum commitment, cancellation policy, and backup coverage?

Hello! We are pregnant with our first child and I am really interested in having a Doula. I am a patient at Oula seeing their team of midwives and plan to deliver at Mount Sinai West. I live in Astoria, Queens. I am hopeful to have an unmedicated, natural birth and would like to learn as many breathing, movement, push positions, etc as possible to help achieve this goal. I am currently on Anthem BCBS Medicaid as a graduate student and have a tighter budget, but understand the importance of the care and knowledge that doulas provide.

I would love a homebirth but do not have the financials for a midwife. I am currently getting care through Stonybrook, however I want to switch to either NUMC or Huntington if I cannot figure out the homebirth situation. We are expecting our first baby this fall and are looking for an experienced, warm, and reliable newborn care provider to support our family in Manhattan during the early postpartum period. We do not have family nearby who will be able to provide regular hands-on help, so we are hoping to find someone who can help us feel more supported and confident as first-time parents. We are especially interested in someone with significant newborn and infant experience, ideally at least 3–5 years. Infant CPR/First Aid certification is strongly preferred, and experience or training as a postpartum doula, newborn care specialist, baby nurse, or similar provider would be a plus. We do not require a second language. The primary responsibility will be helping care for our newborn, including feeding support, diapering, soothing, burping, bottle preparation and cleaning, and helping us establish healthy, age-appropriate sleep habits. If I am breastfeeding or pumping, we would also appreciate someone who is comfortable supporting those routines and coordinating bottles or feeds as needed. We are not looking for strict sleep training with a very young newborn, but we would value someone knowledgeable about newborn sleep who can help us gradually establish good routines. We would also appreciate light baby-related household help during downtime, such as washing bottles and pump parts, baby laundry, tidying the nursery and baby areas, restocking changing supplies, and occasionally preparing a simple meal or snack for me. We are not looking for a full housekeeper. One parent will be home, and my husband will generally be working, including working from home some days, so we are looking for someone who is comfortable working alongside us rather than providing completely independent childcare. We would especially value someone who is willing to teach and guide us rather than simply taking over baby care. Our target budget is approximately $30 per hour, although we are open to discussing the rate depending on experience, certifications, schedule, and responsibilities. We are also open to discussing a schedule that gives us the most useful support within our budget, such as several daytime shifts per week or targeted postpartum support during the first few weeks.
