If I have a partner, do I really need a doula?

As a doula, I’m specially trained in various comfort measures like breathing techniques, positioning, pain management & mindset. I’m not only a doula for the mother, but I also specialize in supporting partners and I will provide guidance for your partner on how to best assist you.

How can I afford a doula?

Will it be uncomfortable having you at my birth since I don't know you?

As a doula, I am trained to respect your privacy and boundaries, allowing you to openly discuss your fears, anxieties, and preferences without feeling exposed. I will also tailor the support I offer, to your specific needs and comfort level, providing a more intimate and focused experience, while doing my best to manage the space where you choose to give birth. I’m well-versed in different comfort techniques and pain management strategies, which can help you navigate labor in a way that aligns with your privacy needs.

What kinds of things can a birth doula help with?

A birth doula can: help you create a birth plan/map explain and educate you and your partner about the birth process help answer any questions you have along the way in pregnancy and new parenthood introduce and help you with comfort techniques, breathing exercises, relaxation exercises and positions for labor. A birth doula can also: help offer your partner support strategies discuss your fears and expectations around your birth and your journey into parenthood encourage prenatal bonding and suggest ways you can connect with your baby before the birth support your decision making and help you weigh your decisions with a tried and true method. A doula will: be a calm & continuous presence during your labor and delivery give you emotional reassurance, suggest labor positions, give you breathing guidance, and suggest comfort measures help you and your partner advocate for your wishes encourage partner involvement assist you with where you are putting your focus.
