Hi! I’m Jaya Mallik (she/her), a birth and postpartum doula in Maple Valley, WA, where I live with my husband, Nathan, and our two daughters, Asha and Diya. My journey into doula work began with my own birth experiences. After an emergency first birth and postpartum depression, I found healing during my second birth with the support of a culturally aligned doula who empowered me and honored my values. Her guidance inspired me to provide the same compassionate care to others. As a Woman of Color and current DEI practitioner, I’m committed to addressing healthcare inequities and ensuring every birthing person feels empowered and supported through this transformative journey.

Every parenting journey is special and deserves care that feels as unique as you are. My mission is to provide steady, practical support while empowering families to navigate the healthcare system with confidence and ease. Together, we’ll ensure you feel strong, valued, and deeply cared for every step of the way. I offer both birth and postpartum doula services, and I can support you in either one or both, based on your unique needs as a growing family and birthing parent.
From the first meeting with Jaya, there was an instant connection. Going into my birth, I was bringing some anxiety and nerves with all the unknowns. Leading up to my induction date, Jaya was so intentional and caring as she led my husband and I through education about birth and labor in order for us to build the birth plan that was the best fit for what I wanted. Throughout labor, she was by my side for 36 hours - supporting and encouraging me which helped to create a calm and informed environment, even in an induction that was not my first choice. She helped to make the entire experience something positive that I will be forever grateful for. After birth, Jaya continues to be intentional with her postpartum care - checking in with us as we adjust to life with baby boy and works to create a flexible plan that best meets our needs in the postpartum period. Overall, having Jaya as our doula made the months leading up to birth, birth itself, and the time period of adjusting to parenthood, so much less daunting, knowing that we had an advocate and resource for us every step of the way. I would recommend Jaya to anyone looking for caring, intentional support throughout their pregnancy and into the fourth trimester.

Jaya has been an absolute angel! She came into our lives when we needed her most. I honestly didn’t know much about doulas beforehand but I’m so happy my community pushed me to look into getting one. I now understand the importance of doulas, especially someone as amazing as Jaya. The moment we spoke on the phone, I felt her warmth and passion. She instantly felt like family when we met her! She was always immediately available and reassured me it didn’t matter what it was about, she was just a text or call away. My husband and I took all sorts of baby classes but in the midst of everything, it was easy to forget all that we learned but fortunately Jaya was always there to fill in the gaps. Our baby instantly loved her too! For us not knowing each other for long, I fully trusted Jaya with our newborn/family. Literally felt like a match made in heaven! Wish we had taken a picture with her so I can show our daughter when she’s older! She played such a pivotal role in our lives and was there during one of the hardest yet most beautiful moment. I felt well-informed by her every step of the way and she always reminded me how I was in control and my voice was worth hearing so I should never shy from speaking up. I feel like being a doula is one of her callings. It comes naturally for her. I hope other families can experience being seen and supported the same way we did with Jaya. We love her so SO much!! One of thee most thoughtful and caring person we’ve ever met. We’ll miss our long chats and moments of laughter with Jaya.

I am so immensely grateful to have had Jaya by my side during this life-changing time. From the moment we first spoke, I immediately felt at ease and could tell that we connected effortlessly—which is rare for someone like me, who tends to be shy. Jaya radiates a gifted calmness, wisdom, and professionalism. It truly feels like she was meant to be a doula. She was an incredible support during my unusually long labor and when my birth plan had to change. At every step, she supported both my partner and me, making sure we felt informed, cared for, and seen—both in the hospital and beyond. As a first-time mom, Jaya made this new beginning more peaceful, loving, and supported than I could have imagined. The comfort, care, thoughtfulness, and love I received from her were invaluable. I truly hope everyone has someone like Jaya during such a transformative time. Thank you, Jaya—we love you.

I am so glad that we chose Jaya to be our birth and postpartum doula. I had a long and difficult labor that ultimately ended in a caesarean section, and her warm and grounded support was a critical component to keeping it a positive experience. Her presence allowed my partner to take much needed breaks and gave me another person to lean on. She stepped in wherever needed. I requested that she take photographs and am so grateful that in the blur of the operating room, she still managed to capture our son's first moments with us. Once our son was home and we were struggling to get enough sleep, we used Jaya's postpartum services to give us the reset that we needed. We felt entirely comfortable letting her care for our newborn while we got a night of rest, interrupted only by her coming to me when he needed to be breastfed (at my request). Jaya is knowledgeable, confident, and just a really nice person to be around - I cannot recommend her enough.

Jaya is an amazing advocate for maternal wellness, especially for women of color. She was essential part of my support team during my pregnancy, delivery and postpartum. In addition to her excellent support, she found me the resources I needed in so many areas including mental health care, lactation, to baby care. I had a difficult delivery and bad experience with some of the providers at the hospital where I delivered. Jaya stepped in, immediately advocating for me with hospital staff and administration - ensuring that mine and my baby’s care were of the highest standard. She is a thoughtful and compassionate person who is not afraid to support you in making tough decisions during challenging times. I am so incredibly lucky to have had her support and friendship in my journey to becoming a mom.

Jaya was absolutely phenomenal with the birth of my second child! I had a much more challenging pregnancy the second time around and Jaya helped coach me through my gestational diabetes diagnosis. With the diagnosis, I was terrified, but Jaya helped give me actionable steps and emotional support so that it quickly became manageable throughout my third trimester. After my daughter was born, Jaya was incredibly helpful. She helped with whatever I needed, delivering food, some light cleaning, helping with the baby and made space for me to get the rest I needed while she handled the chores around the house. I'm not someone who accepts help easily, but Jaya was so supportive and caring, it was easy to trust her while I got some much needed rest. She anticipated needs before I could vocalize them and was a cheerleader at times when I most needed the support. I would HIGHLY recommend Jaya as a Doula - you and your little one would be in the BEST hands possible.
