About me
Experienced RN & Mom of Four | Newborn & Postpartum Support Hi! I’m Jessica, a Registered Nurse, Navy veteran, and mom of four children, ages 11, 9, 7, and 4. I have a nursing background that includes mother/baby care, and while I stepped away from bedside nursing over the past decade to stay home and raise my children, I’ve never really stepped away from newborn care! Raising four children has given me more than a decade of hands-on, around-the-clock experience with babies, breastfeeding, formula feeding, pumping, bottle preparation, soothing, swaddling, diaper changes, sleep routines, and—perhaps most importantly—learning to anticipate what a tired baby and an exhausted parent need before they even have to ask. I also understand postpartum life from the other side of the equation. I breastfed my four children for a combined 60 months and also formula fed two of my four, so I have firsthand experience with both feeding journeys and understand that every family’s experience is different. My goal is never to judge or push one approach, but to support parents in whatever works best for their family. One of the biggest things that shaped my perspective as a mother was raising my children without a nearby village. We lived about 700 miles from our family and close friends, and I know personally how overwhelming those first weeks and months can feel when you’re exhausted, recovering, and suddenly responsible for a tiny new person—without grandparents or friends down the street to step in for a few hours. That experience is a big part of why I’m drawn to postpartum and overnight newborn care. I want to be the extra set of capable, reassuring hands that I wished I had during those early days. Now that my youngest is heading to school full-time, I have the opportunity to return to the workforce. Rather than jumping immediately back into a traditional RN position while my own children are still young, I see newborn and postpartum care as a wonderful way to bring my nursing background back into practice while doing something I genuinely love. I’m an old pro at washing pump parts at 2 a.m., preparing bottles, swaddling tiny babies, changing newborn diapers, settling a fussy baby, and quietly taking care of the little things that make a tired parent’s night easier. I understand that sometimes the most valuable thing you can give a new parent is simply the ability to sleep for a few uninterrupted hours knowing their baby is safe and cared for. My approach is calm, nurturing, practical, and respectful of each family’s parenting style. I would love the opportunity to help make those exhausting, wonderful first weeks with a new baby feel a little more manageable.
