The cost of a midwife in Jonesboro, AR can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Arkansas Medicaid covers certified nurse-midwife services, including prenatal, birth, and postpartum care, under a nationwide Medicaid requirement. Benefits for home or birth-center care provided by licensed or certified professional midwives vary by plan and do not apply to every Arkansas member. Jonesboro has very limited local options, with two midwives listed within 60 miles. Private insurance coverage depends on the individual policy.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Jonesboro, AR, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

Annie Hill

43 years of experience

Birth has been my life's work for more than 40 years. I'm Annie Hill, a Certified Community-Based Doula, retired home birth midwife, doula educator, and one of only seven Arkansas Certified Community-Based Doulas currently positioned to participate in Arkansas's upcoming Medicaid doula program. Whether you're planning your first baby, hoping for a VBAC, navigating a high-risk pregnancy, or simply looking for an experienced guide, I'm here to help you understand your options, communicate confidently with your healthcare team, and feel supported every step of the way. I believe every family deserves evidence-based information, compassionate support, and the freedom to make informed decisions that are right for them. My job isn't to make decisions for you. It's to make sure you have the knowledge, support, and confidence to make them for yourself. If you're looking for an experienced doula who will respect your voice, support your goals, and walk beside you through pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum, I'd be honored to meet you.

In 2019 I started my "trying" journey. I had two children previously but due to a contraceptive implant issue I was struggling to get pregnant for a third time. Annie guided me on how to advocate for myself which helped me be officially diagnosed with PCOS and a difficulty ovulating by December 2020. Early 2021 I was able to get medicinal intervention and get pregnant with my sweet littlest. I relied heavily on Annie's advice about diet, exercise, remembering to listen to my body, and advocating for myself. I suffered the third trimester with chronic nosebleeds, turns out was an open lesion in my left sinus. I would have just given in and let it go if not for the gentle and kindly advice. Annie lives 6 hours away from me, and if it weren't for little Eevee being born in less than that, she would have been here for her birth. But I had her in my heart, mind, and ear helping me advocate for the best delivery I could have. Since then, I have continued to keep a close friendship with Annie, and can easily say that if you want the very best care and to feel like you not only matter but are family, Annie Hill is the very best of the best.

I have been a nurse for 20+ years. As a nurse I have seen the impact that doulas have on maternal and infant health. For that reason I also became a doula. I am certified in reiki, TENS unit application, and water birth. I am also studying herbalism, aromatherapy, and acupressure. I believe that all mothers should have access to all holistic services related to birth. I am certified through DONA International. I would love to be your doula!

Stacie was my doula for the birth of my 3rd child. She still needed a certification birth so I reached out to her and signed up with her to be my doula. My partner and I were very nervous about allowing someone in our home due to a past tragedy in our town. A doula in our town several years ago killed a woman and stole her baby. Due to this we were very nervous. Stacie eased our concerns right away by presenting in a very professional manor. She was extremely knowledgeable about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding,  and postpartum.  She was also able to provide references, actual certifications, and professional organization details. Because of this, our anxiety disappeared.  She was there for 3 prenatal visits, the birth, and a postpartum visit. She was very supportive through the whole process.  I did end up needing to be induced, and got an epidural, but she was still very helpful. She provided great support from the moment we all arrived at the hospital to about 2 hours after the birth. I would highly recommend Stacie (Holistic Expectations) to be a doula. She is professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate.  I would use her again.
