About Josie

I’m a postpartum registered nurse with 3 years of hospital experience, offering overnight newborn care for babies 0–12 weeks old. I’ll care for your little one overnight in your home so you can get real sleep and wake up ready to take on the day. I’ve spent countless night shifts as a nursery nurse, often caring for several newborns at once. That included looking after babies while their mothers recovered from complications like preeclampsia or postpartum hemorrhage, and caring for infants receiving phototherapy for jaundice. I’m comfortable with bottle feeding (formula or pumped milk) or bringing baby to you to nurse, and I’m experienced with cluster feeding and triple feeding. Shifts take place between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., with an 8-hour minimum. I serve Santa Barbara, Montecito, and Goleta. I hold an active RN license and am BLS and NRP certified. You don’t have to do it all by yourself. I’m here to help!

Josie is a fantastic night nurse who also provided support during some earlier nights so that we could go on date nights. She helped us out when our baby was 6weeks until he was 3.5 months. With her support our son started sleeping through the night (about 7 hours) by 8/9 weeks old, and he now (at 5 months) sleeps 12-13 hours. We never had to sleep train him, just followed the cues we learned given feedback from Josie on nights she watched him. She was always very sweet with our son and responsive to our every changing night schedules making us feel quickly comfortable with her staying with him overnight. We were sad for ourselves when she moved, but happy for her new adventure.

Frequently asked questions

What does a typical night look like?

I arrive at the start of the shift, check in with you about baby’s day, feeds, and any concerns, then take over so you can sleep. Overnight I handle feeds (or bring baby to you to nurse), diaper changes, soothing, and settling baby back to sleep. In the morning I give you a rundown of the night: feeds, diapers, sleep stretches, and anything I noticed.

Will you sleep during the shift?

No, I stay awake and attentive the entire shift.

Do you help with sleep training or schedules?

I can help establish healthy sleep habits and gentle routines appropriate for newborns, but I’m not a certified sleep consultant and don’t offer formal sleep training. For babies this young, the focus is on safe sleep, consistent routines, and learning baby’s cues.

What ages do you care for?

I primarily care for newborns from birth to 12 weeks old, but I’m flexible and happy to continue care a little longer if your family needs it.

Are you trained in infant CPR?

Yes. I’m BLS certified, which includes infant CPR and choking response, and I also hold an NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification, a specialized newborn resuscitation training used in hospital labor & delivery and nursery settings.

Do you care for twins?

Yes! I have experience caring for multiple newborns at once from my time as a hospital nursery nurse.

How much does Josie charge?

Josie's Overnight Newborn Care package is $50 USD, per hour.

Is Josie taking new clients?
