We are currently exploring doula services for the birth of our first child and are looking for a supportive, knowledgeable provider who aligns with our values and needs. We are planning a hospital birth in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. Our estimated due date is around [insert due date], and we would like support during labor, delivery, and potentially postpartum. Our budget is flexible depending on services offered, but we are ideally looking in the range of $800–$2,000 for birth doula services. We are open to discussing packages and payment plans if available. Our birth plan is to have a calm, supportive, and informed experience. While we are open to medical interventions if necessary, we would prefer a low-intervention birth if possible. Emotional support, guidance with pain management techniques, and advocacy during labor are very important to us. We are especially interested in someone who can help us feel confident and prepared, as this is our first pregnancy following IVF. For the provider, we are looking for someone who: Is a certified doula (DONA, CAPPA, or equivalent preferred) Has at least 2–3 years of experience or has attended multiple births Is comfortable supporting first-time parents Has strong communication skills and a calming presence Bonus if you have experience with IVF pregnancies or high-emotion journeys Bonus if you speak an additional language (not required, but appreciated) Regarding care details: This will be a newborn (first child) No known special medical needs at this time We are interested in guidance on feeding (open to breastfeeding support, but flexible) We may also be interested in additional support, such as: Light postpartum support Newborn care education Basic guidance on sleep routines Light household help (e.g., simple meal prep or tidying), depending on availability Our insurance provider is [insert provider + plan], though we understand doula services may not always be covered. We are located in Hudsonville and are expecting twin girls on August 28 via c-section. This is the date of our scheduled c-section. I’m not sure if the girls will need a little NICU time or not. But when we are home, I’d love to hire a night nanny for 2-3 weeks while my incision heals. We have a 2.5 year old little boy. My husband works in produce and the summer is his SUPER busy time. He will likely be working from the home office for most of the night-until 3am.
