Frequently asked questions

What happens during a visit?

Every visit is different but at the first visit we will discuss your concerns and goals, do a thorough examination of your posture, function, strength and range of motion. We may also do a pelvic floor examination vaginally or rectally with your consent.

Does treatment change depending on my condition? Can’t I just do kegels at home?

No treatment is the same because no 2 people are exactly the same. Kegels may be a part of your treatment but it is important we evaluate your needs in order to prescribe the appropriate amount of kegels or a completely different treatment plan that would help you meet your goals.

Can I avoid surgery with PT? I was told I needed surgery, can PT help me?

Short answer is it depends. In most cases, physical therapy is very beneficial and many of our patients decide not to have surgery. Those that do end up having surgery are happy that their symptoms improved and they are more knowledgeable and physically prepared for surgery resulting in more optimal outcomes.

How many visits do I need? How long til I see changes?

This depends on your condition. Many patients notice changes after a single appointment and others may see changes after 2-3 appointments.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

Currently in Texas, you do not need a referral for physical therapy for the first 10 business days. As a courtesy to you, we will request a referral from your doctor, midwife, nurse practitioner, or chiropractor after the 1st appointment.

Do you take insurance?

No, we do not take insurance but can provide you with a detailed receipt in order to request reimbursement from your insurance provider.
