I am a 41 year-old high risk pregnancy. Patient that is 30 weeks pregnant. Diagnosed with high blood pressure, gestational, diabetes, and Cholestasis of Pregnancy . I feel like my voice is not being heard by my providers.

I’m a first time mom and in need of someone to help me through this birthing process and post birth I would like someone who not only cares for my child’s well being but for my needs as well . I’m wanting to do a water birth and don’t want many interruptions with nurses and I don’t want things done to my baby without my consent or my spouse. Hi, I’m going to be a first time mom! As I am super excited and starting to plan my near future, I am also trying to navigate how I want my birthing experience to go. I know that I would like to have a hospital birth, which I believe I have found the perfect hospital for me. As of right now I am still researching this and that. Meaning, there are so many different birthing experiences. I’m sure everyone has their dream ideal labor and delivery story to which some come true and some do not. I am fully aware anything can happen but before we go there, I do have an “ideal” way I’d like to see my labor going. I would very much prefer an unmedicated birth. My main goal is no epidural. I do have a few different reasons as to why I don’t want it, but that is something we can always get into later if you’d like! I should also mention again, this is my goal! If at any point I get to a point during labor where I absolutely want it or feel that I need it, if able to, I will change my mind. I also would love to stay away from Pitocin as long as possible as long as there are no complications etc. of course if the labor is getting dangerous for me or baby, I understand. I am also hoping as my doula (when we find each other!) you will help me understand more about these. As long as things go as planned, I plan on my mother and boyfriend being present during my labor and birth. I also hope I can add another amazing support person to the list! Someone that will 110% advocate for me if and when needed, and Someone that will keep me updated and educated! I hope to speak soon, thank you!

We are planning to give birth at a hospital, ideally one with a strong reputation for maternal care, low intervention rates, and access to a NICU if needed. Our estimated budget for doula and postpartum support is between $1,500 and $3,500 depending on experience, services included, and level of support provided before and after delivery. Our birth plan is centered around a calm, low-intervention experience. We prefer an unmedicated vaginal birth if possible, but we are open to medical interventions if they become necessary for the safety of the baby or mother. We would like continuous labor support, encouragement with breathing and positioning, and an advocate who can help communicate our preferences with medical staff. Delayed cord clamping, immediate skin-to-skin contact, and support with initiating breastfeeding are very important to us. For the provider, we are looking for someone who is a certified doula (such as DONA or CAPPA certified) with at least 3–5 years of experience and multiple births attended. We strongly prefer someone who is calm under pressure, highly communicative, and experienced with hospital births. It would be a bonus if the provider speaks Spanish as a second language to help support extended family members. The care recipient is a newborn, and we are first-time parents. We would appreciate guidance on feeding (primarily breastfeeding), soothing techniques, and establishing healthy sleep habits. There are no known special needs at this time, but we value a provider who can adapt if circumstances change. Additional duties we are interested in include light housekeeping related to the baby (washing bottles, baby laundry), meal prep for the mother during postpartum recovery, and some support with sleep training or establishing routines. Flexibility in scheduling and availability for overnight support a few times per week would be ideal.

However, what I’m looking for is a postpartum doula in my home in Elizabethtown, Pa. 2.) I would like to use my Medicaid UPMC for You health plan to cover services. 3.) My postpartum desire is to have multiple visits over the first month or two. I am hoping a doula can bless us with help around the home and meals, care for our two older children, help me in my healing and breastfeeding (pumping), and overall provide support for the family as we welcome a son with medical needs (cleft lip and palate).
