Hi I am Maria, and I came to doula work after working in childcare for 8 years. After spending time with parents who had relatively no postpartum care or support, I soon started my training to bridge that gap. I believe that the postpartum period is one of the most crucial stages of pregnancy. Many parents experience feelings of loneliness, confusion, and exhaustion and it is Maria’s top priority to help parents feel their best during your fourth trimester. I am a passionate birth doula who is dedicated to helping mothers feel heard and in control of their pregnancy and birth by finding trust, strength, and empowerment through listening to the intuition we all have as mothers. I am a DONA-certified birth doula practicing in the Ann Arbor, MI area. I believe that doula support is a right, not a privilege, so my fees are nominal and my services are above and beyond. In addition to the usual DONA certification training, I am also trained through Survivor Moms and I also volunteer with the Michigan Prison Doula Initiative, in addition to my private practice. I have no time cut-off, so if your labor is moving slowly, I will stay with you all the way. I have been told that my kindness, compassion and ability to listen and advocate has been a godsend to many of my clients.

I took a leap of faith to become a ProDoula-certified Labor, Birth, Postpartum, and Infant Care Doula because this is not just a job for me—it's my calling. I am also CPR/AED/First Aid certified, as well as HIPAA and OSHA compliant. In my free time, I cherish moments with my husband and our two children, creating lifelong memories together.
